    The flat back cover without any humps is better, the smartphone slightly thicker can have more battery room and built-in greater components inside it and have a sturdy build to pass any bend test.

                  Hump only if quality is great such as the lumia 1020. Also xenon flash needs to be back. Nokia bring back your humps and xenon flash.

                    Sony could do no-hump and great camera as well. While some use 1/3" sensor with a hump. If not using new sensor technology then multiple cameras is also a way(2,3,more). There was also tech with 4x4 array. There is just no excuse for a humps if you can see alternatives everywhere.
                    But, no matter what technology one uses, there is no shortcut, like nokia using multiple cameras but small sensor and aperture, its more like fake.

                      I don't understand why they are trying to make the phones thinner and thinner. It's not comfortable at all to manipulate, it makes the phone more fragile and the battery life is impacted. So what's the deal?

                        Flat front, flat back, slim bezels, waterproof...
                        The only phone that meets those standards is the LG G6.

                        Put in dual loud front-firing stereospeakers, and people are gonna lose their minds.

                            If the designers at the least made the hump wider, so the phone./phablet could be used on a table, it would help a lot.

                            But OPTIMALLY devices were offered in two variants, with removable backs/batteries
                            1) A slim combination for the dinner jacket with a smaller battery and hump.
                            2) A flat combination for normal usage with a larger battery and a hump.

                            ...And then we could all put on the combination that suits the situation.

                            (I do not care if it is as battery packs or separate backplate and batteries)

                            But as this would stop the crocked trend of planned obsolescence, adopted by many vendors, this is not likely to happen again soon...

                              We want bigger battery, not thinner phones! Bigger battery = no camera "hump"!

                                Every phone is a camera phone these days, so nothing will belong to the "everything else" in your title.
                                You can easily even out the camera hump by including a bigger battery, which is definitely more useful than having the thinnest phone in the world with an inconvinient camera hump for most people.
