First video teaser for the Huawei Mate 10 is out, reveals Leica-branded dual rear camera

21 August 2017
Of course that's unsurprising given the use of a similar setup in the Mate 9.

Sonu4678, 22 Aug 2017Well, that's true but it's more of a sensible choice. Less ... moreLess detail equals to blurry images. If you wish to have the best of both world then phone manufacturers should use large camera sensors like 1/1.2" in Nokia 808 with wide aperture at least f1.8 and OIS.

And there is no need to dedicated cameras. Phones can replace them completely.

Unfortunately people are primitive sheeple and they want thinness instead of usefulness. They don't have common sense so they look for a jewerly/status symbol in a phone instead of a smart high-tech tool.

oh still f2.2 aperture when other flagships like lg v30 are going with f 1.6 . pause the video at 11 sec and observe at right side of image you can notice summarit f 2.2 labelling

Mate 9 is already a beast, now this thing comes!

Sonu4678, 22 Aug 2017Individual pixel size matters a lot in smartphone photograp... moreYup lowlight s8 is winner, but in daylight sony is winner because the higher mp count translate to higher resolved detail, in s8 the picture will pixeleted when zooming to high detail area, especially when taking picture of group, where s8 camera look a bit oil painting-ish when zooming go the face while higher mp (like sony or the gs6) still retain the face better
In lowlight the s8 will fare better in auto, but since most smartphone cam has the manual control, taking a good lowlight is not a trouble and the higher mp will show it benefit

AnonD-521587, 22 Aug 2017for example my sony 23mp camera is really good in daytime b... moreIndividual pixel size matters a lot in smartphone photography. Sony's 23mp camera can not overcome Samsung's 12mp camera in low light, no matter how good processing is cuz there is not enough light.
Every flagship nowadays can take great pictures in day light for a normal user but the difference appears in low light. Take Pixel & OnePlus 5 for example, both of them don't have OIS thus they can't produce low light pics as good as S8 but on the other hand Pixel trumps S8 in daylight.

P.S. Please don't think me as a fanboy cuz it's my real unbiased opinion based on my research.

Having more megapixel translates to smaller individual pixel size thus each pixel would take in less light and that's bad for dim-lit situations.
I think 12 mp for primary camera is sweet spot, that's why every other oems are doing it. Having 20 mp monochrome sensor means more detail and that also compensates for low megapixel count of the main camera.
