Sony Fanboy Bitches, 22 Aug 2017Removable batteries have been sealed in because nowadays, b... moreBatteries have been sealed because of planned obsolescence: the manufacturers want to force people to buy new phones. The other reason is that since people are primitive, they don't appreciate the good things. They prefer looks over features. That's the result of the brainwashing marketing.

Power bank is not an argument at all. It is worthless if your phone has non-removable battery. Power bank means you have to carry another devcie plus a cable, you have to wait hours (and stay connected to the power bank) while the phone is charging. It also means more frequent charging which further shortens the lifespan of the phone's built-in battery. Also the charging port will wear out.

If your phone has removable battery, you can replace it's battery to a much higher capacity battery, say 3 phone batteries. For example the ZeroLemon 10 000mAh extended battery for LG V20.

You can have waterproof phone with removable battery. For example S5 and S5 Active. But waterproof smartphones makes no sense. Most people never expose their phones to water. And the removable battery is much more important than waterproofness. Oh, and if you have to open the body of a non-removable battery phone (for example to replace the battery) you will damage and lose the waterproofness.

I agree with the rest of your comment. The phones should have large camera sensors and optics and OIS (what Sony phones don't have) and removable battery. The thicker body and camera bumps are not a problem.

Tips for people who waste time all day, except the last one, which is why s8 has one of the best cameras on a smarthpone to date

Anonymous, 22 Aug 2017Well dont but it , just stop bitchinJust like how a person that's named the same as you, trolls over Sony articles and make fun of bezels for helping the user to have a grip on the device/

Anonymous, 22 Aug 2017What kind of future? The future of smartphones is terrible.... moreRemovable batteries have been sealed in because nowadays, barely anyone removes and replaces their phone batteries.
            A. Power banks with much higher capacity than, say 3 phone batteries, exist and cost way less.
            B. Removable hardware makes no sense in the age of waterproof smartphones. We know how the S5 turned out in that way back in 2014.

IR Blaster is the only thing I do miss from smartphones, but I'm happy that some Chinese OEMs like Xiaomi and Huawei still include it on their devices.
It only takes Apple the courage to have it and all will have this thing in a moment.

Thick phones with no camera bumps (but large sensors and optics) and large batteries are the future that I consider.
We nearly had that in 2012 with the Nokia 808 and Lumia 1020, but it seems like only Sony's interested of following that road. Even Nokia themselves, or HMD, has forgotten that greatest thing already and insisted on the helpless dual camera trend, that produces no match photos than the single shooters of the 808 and 1020.

Anonymous, 22 Aug 2017 I like that word 'inspired" ......... yes inspired!!! ... ... moreWhat kind of future? The future of smartphones is terrible. The age of real smartphones ended with LG V20. V20 remains the last good smartphone forewer. All newer smartphones will be much worse. Look at for example V30, Note 8 or S8 compared to V20. V20 is better than S8, Note 8 and V30 because V20 has better body design (no curved screen, no glass body, useful bezels) and has the essential features that no other phones have and in the future no phones will have anymore (removable battery, IR blaster/remote control, FM Radio, 3.5mm jack, microSD card support, standard screen resolution).

So there is absolutely no hope in the future of smartphones.
