26 May, 2011

Stop debating 4G legitimacy.

The "G" stands for generation. This denotes a major change in the structure and capability of wireless telecommunication. 4G is specifically arranged around an all IP-based network, meaning phone calls are essentially VOIP and all functions used on the phone are originated with an IP address instead of a network designated by telephone number (LATA exchange).

At least LTE is in the same family as LTE Advanced, which can't be said about HSPA+.

Who cares if its true 4g or fake 4g? As long as the service and speed is good ill go for it. Id rather go for a fake 4g if its much faster and reliable than a true 4g. Nuff said!

[deleted post]No one said you're lying, but guess what, LTE is NOT 4G. The real 4G will be LTE-Advanced with up to 1 Gbps speed, which isn't available anywhere yet.

Did you even read my previous post?

Um Actual 4G starts at 100mbps down. LTE is not going to reach that this summer. HSPA+ and Wimax aren't even 4G. Quit making people think they have 4G.

"LTE – a.k.a. actual 4G"?! um, no, Wrong.

                        LTE, Wimax 802.16e = 3G
LTE advanced, Wimax 802.16m which none are available yet = actual 4G
