AnonD-6358, 29 May 2011theres no reason to get all in a tinsy about this people...... morewhy are u complaining, as said before, if u know how to unlock it and use a custom rom then sureley u know how to update your phone manualy.

Even with new cars, change something in the engine and u'll loose the warranty.

You have the choice, its up to u if u want to do it or not?

That should be enough reason to forget about any Sony Ericsson entirely, from now on.

              LoL now this is funny...

All android praises the OS is free and without any restrisctions..of course, that is if some major companye (like sony) decides to put an end to the free...

              And you criticize Nokia?

And I hope this practice don't extend to other companies or your only hope will be coocked ROMS...and I don't trust that at 100%

Exactly, anyone technical enough to want to unlock the bootloader in the first place isn't going to have any problems in manually flashing a ROM.

Who cares they get lots of custom ROMs. That's the point of unlocking the damn bootloader!!

you cannot blame people if they are unlocking their xperia, only IF i repeat IF sony was fast in giving updates for androids then customers will not use custom roms or some sorts,, if they are consintrating on sales rather than limiting customers sony guys make up your minds

Clever move from Sony Ericsson. I think this is fair enough. Users are given the option to void their warranty by unlocking the bootloaders and users who do not flash their phones to custom ROM will enjoy the official releases and warranty.

I hope this goes out to all other companies out there. Motorola should follow through.

Meh, much ado about nothing. The official ROMs are readily available anyway, and you can flash them without a problem. Someone who unlocks his phone won't have a problem with flashing via another tool.

gain some.. loosing a lot; or should ppl expect that.. SE is very dull in giving updates ! !! so go ahead with the unlock tool.

not unusual, and SE did warn this would happen. Besides which changing the firmware and not getting updates isnt that expected?

There are alternatives of rooting the Xperias without sorting to unlocking it. Some say that GingerBreak works.
