There is no way Xiaomi would waste their best devices on stock android. They used the Mi 5X budget phone so that the larger number of people with access to the A1 will be able to check out the power of a Mi Phone for a while and I'm sure they can upgrade to MIUI from the MIUI website. After that they'll be able to check out the huge difference in performance. They'll have an even better upgrade experience than the rest of us did since they'll be able to see the large improvement from the same device.

Seems to be fake. There is no Mi A1 phone on the RF Exposure page at the moment. The last model is Mi Max 2.

no Xiaomi, put the sensor bar at the bottom!

I would love to have xiaomi quality phone with stock android. I'm getting sick of this MIUI thing, the only thing to force me using MIUI in xiaomi phone was the camera app. So with stock android and MIUI camera app, i think it would be great combo. Oh, and i hate buggy developer software too, so i stick with MIUI.

These features are about product positioning, putting them on more expensive phones. However, sometimes, manufacturers break this rule if they want to gain an advantage.

I have no idea on the performance/quality of Xiaomi's skin over Android but this is good direction. I hope this move can extend to smartphone with specs like an OLED screen and a camera with OIS.
