30 August 2017
Don't expect it anytime soon though, it will go into producing in early 2018.

I guess that SD670 will not succeed in phone market of next year .
It seems that the current SD660 is not so popular among mid-range smartphone market. There are only three phones that use SD660: Oppo R11, Xiaomi Mi Note 3, Vivo X20. And they all are not so popular among consumers. On the other hands, its little brother, SD625, is runaway success. So I think that SD670, a successor of the failed SD660, will not do well in market, too.

The architecture in most flagship phones are 10nm. Performance boost now-on will only bump up slightly every new generation. Next will be 8nm, can you imagine that?
I can only imagine in 5 years having SOC at 1nm.
smartphones are getting more and more efficient and it's technology is evolving at an outstanding rate. Surpassing many other counterparts like the PC/LAPTOP.
What needs to be improved are these shitty Lito/Lipo batteries, no evolution whatsoever in these last 5-7 years.

I'm not going to get my hopes up. Once this becomes available, the price is going to be near flagship SD835 that it is better to get it, which will become the previous year tech.

So Oppo will be its regular customer of 670 as in previous socs.

AnonD-695532, 30 Aug 2017I m quite sure it is not going to beat A8 chipProbably not, only top android chipset can beat it

                Could be upper midrange beast

If this true better skip Snapdragon 660 wait till SD670 officially release because 2018 is a round of corner right now we are nearing the end of 2017 . Maybe its not come on early 2018 but possible mid 2018

Anyhow, even early 2018 is not that far, considering we're nearing the end of 2017 anyways...

Excellent news, generally and particularly for the (premium) mid-range segment.

So I guess they are making this chip 2+6 to create a fake performance difference so they can dick people around with their inflated price for their SD845s

[deleted post]Nothing yet, I'll feed the info as it arrives.

Everything starts from the top wafer fabricators and chip designers, then it trickles down into prototypes and products for the mainstream market.
We are nearing a plateau with 7nm/5nm wafers. They're getting very difficult to get acceptable yields in the lab. So we might see a microarchitecture improvements follow and also hit a plateau. These are just the forecasts for 4-8 years down the line. Things can change like the weather.
