People wanted so much "vanilla android" that now it gets mostly under the hood changes for major releases. Samsung fell in the ranks due to critics so no more features pushing from them

I updated yesterday and don't really notice a difference in anything. The new notification shade seems worse. The battery life seems the same. The Settings menu is confusing. And PiP isn't all that with hoops you have to jump through and still feels beta.
Just stick to Nougat and wait for 8.0.1 or 8.1.1 for more refinements.
