Anonymous, 01 Sep 2017Nah. Nobody ever put Nokia or BlackBerry in their 401k. ... moreYou must be blind for history if you think that Nokia in its high days was considered a less solid company than aPple is today. or to stay in the US Motorola earlier.

Just wait, an upstart company can completely turn over aPple and Samsung as well, The smartphones has not really seen any substantial revolutions since the day of Symbian hardwarewise. Sure evolutions, with slight improvements, and the last five years not even that, just huger and better camera-substitutes YoY.

And no of course I do not know what the next huge thing will be.

Maybe it will be some more direct communication between a device and the brain. That would kill the entire phone/phablet industry as we know it in an instant, and the one with the right patents would be the new kid in town...

Anonymous, 01 Sep 2017Blackberry and nokia are like apple and samsung now Sooner... moreNah.

Nobody ever put Nokia or BlackBerry in their 401k.

Apple is in everybody's 401k. They're not going anywhere. Same with Google.

It's the reason that Microsoft hasn't gone anywhere even though they haven't done anything technologically relevant for over a decade.

Well one thing is the blocking it self. The worst was that they gave the users no warning AND not even a proper message when they try! (see the comments in the crackberry thread link)
Allegedly people just get: "temporary server error please try again".

Sporadic, 01 Sep 2017Does anyone use this?In my country, it was popular back then when everyone owns a blackberry device. It's a messenger exclusive only to BB's user, and BB is like the "second Nokia" which everyone own it (not me, never liked the design). So when BBM was launched for android, they use it because a lot of their contacts are already on BBM (eventhough WhatsApp is better IMO). Now BBM here is almost extinct too but they realize waaaaaay too late.

It's actually the best and original messaging platform that others are based on.

Sporadic, 01 Sep 2017Does anyone use this?Previously I use BBM in Android and last time I use BBM on iPhone. But I uninstalled it because sometimes it show pop up message 'new update available' but, in fact, I found on Appstore, no new update from BBM. Also, sometimes it delay for incoming messages. I used it from iPhone 5s in iOS 11 Public beta 6.

I am OK with that rule, can't switch, if first time I sign up for BBM in Android smartphone, then I think I would better keep using BBM on Android or iPhone smartohone, then BlackBerry 10 smartphones, because BlackBerry 10 has many lack of apps.
