^This. I agree 1000%. Take note guys.

Sony Fanboy Bitches, 03 Sep 2017"The LG V30 is MIL-STD-810G certified - or, in other words,... moreOkay. You need to stop with your fanboy attitude.

"claiming a phone made of glass to be most resistant to drops."

-The LG V30 IS MIL-STD-810G certified - It's a fact. I don't know if it can survive a drop test or not, but regardless , the V30 have that official rating. There's no need to deny it.

"Sony has clad ..... inside a phone with just 4.6" display"

And the iPhone 7 has clad in a 12 MP, f/1.8, 28mm, OIS, quad-LED (dual tone) flash on its camera, 3D Touch on both its entire display and home button, 256 GB capacity of storage, IP67 rating, a powerful A10 fusion chip, front facing fingerprint sensor, the best haptic feedback engine motor on a smartphone, all inside a phone with just a 4.7" display, which is thinner too, at 7.1 mm. So what's exactly your point really? Your points doesn't even relate to the other commenter's original point.
(The iPhone 7 is just a tad bit taller than the XZ1 Compact, and it have about the same size. Just take a look at PhoneArena's Visual Phone Size Comparison)

    "If the screen burns in..."

I just have to stop you right there. Ask anyone with a OLED smartphone in the past few years. People don't even know what burns in is. Even DisplayMate said that people shouldn't worry about burns in on an OLED display anymore. It's because OLED tech had matures, and manufacturers have put many clever software tricks to help avoid their OLED screen from burns in, to the point that burns in just become a thing of the past.

And ofcourse it's going to be more expansive to replace the LG V30 display compare to the XZ1 Compact's! It's a 6" QHD+ P-OLED display vs a tiny 4.6" 720p LCD display. It's just comman sense really.

"Yet people are hating it for its large bezels when a phone that's supposed to be a "media phablet flagship device" doesn't even have some pair of good sounding stereo front speakers."

    *facepalm*
A phone DOESN'T need large bezel for it to become a "media phablet flagship device". You know what it need instead? A large high quality display, and some advanced Hi-Fi QUAD DAC audio features. That's why more and more manufacturers bundled in a pair of high quality earphones when people purchase their flagships.

Not picking a side here, but I'm really tired to see these fanboys/ keyboard warriors like you polluting the comment section, trying to defend your favourite manufacturer. Frankly, I'm not the only one that's tired of you fanboyish comment.

Blimey we should change this to Sony IFA according to fanboy here lol!! I have had many phones, Nokia's, IPhones, Galaxy Notes, Sony and NEC in the early days and Motorola's and yes the Brick, My personal favourite phones of all time were Sony Ericsson's it was such a good partnership! The P900 was awesome!

Sadly since there split I think Sony phones are reliable but dull and plain and this is being typed out on a Z5 when it should have been typed on a Note 7! Sadly all Sony phones pretty much look the same shape but different sizes and colours, For a company that makes PlayStations and Tvs you would thnk they would be very good at design and aesthetics which does matter very much with mobiles these days.

There's no doubt about Sonys screen technology or reliability, It's the looks that matter especially when your paying top dollar for there flagship!

This why I will be a Galaxy Note 8 purchaser because my Z5 depreciated in value to half in 3 months after release and when I looked at it,It just felt cheap and tacky.

It's ok to be a fanboy of something/someone, but it's not ok when you only see the positive of the one that you're being fanboy to, and negative to everything/one else. I like Sony, but I can easily say that V30 was the star of that show. XZ1Compact is very welcome here, but XZ1 isn't. XZ1 is so underwhelming that besides of having metal unibody and latest chipset, it has no major improvement over the other flagship devices that Sony has brought this year, it even has the same battery capacity of XZ1Compact.

        XZ1Compact: 4.6" 720p screen = 2700 mah battery
        XZ1: 5.2" 1080p with HDR screen = same 2700 mah battery

Wtf? Really? I know, it will have a decent Endurance Rating, but I won't accept the fact that they intentionally put smaller battery(or just the same with XZ1C) for a device of that size and its capabilities. I don't have any major problem with XZ1C, I just don't like the look of its sensor/flash bar being in the middle, it just looks so weird, but not really on XZ1(I don't really know), maybe because it's longer.

I'm just pumped for the XZ1 Compact. So refreshing to have a nice specced phone that's not the size of a 1980's garage door opener.

no doubt that lg can make. . very gud phones in features or any other things. .
bt probleams is that the people are give the more importance to design and look of smartphone. .
LG should work on its design , look and market publicity of their smartphone,
hope they will get better results. . .

I personally liked the Archos smartphones. They may not excel at great cameras, processing power, screen technology, or even build quality. The phones Archos showcased aren't reinventing the wheel, or even made by Archos themselves(one of them to me is a ZTE Nubia rebrand), but what they did is something big manufacturers forgot how to do; make one phone in four different screen sizes. Every manufacturer makes a phone in just about any size, but(other than Sony) performance, and special features are often overlooked.

I like the LG V30 with its camera, screen, and build, but I'm no photographer, nor do I plan on having my phone leaking water with LEDs behind it. I liked the idea of LG putting their top features in mid range, and even low end devices. I'm not sure if they will do it again, but I would want an LG X Audio phone; a low end device with a Quad DAC. They made X phones for battery, camera, second screen, screen quality (a G4 remake), and "style", but not audio.

I like the Moto X; somewhat small display with more efficient processor, but gimmicks(like dual camera and Bluetooth audio) aside, there are other mid-range devices that perform like it, with even less price.

There are many innovations that these manufacturers haven't done yet. With the bezelless phones coming out, why aren't there any small display bezelless phones showcased? What about a cheap, waterproof phone? A phone that allows one to switch batteries without turning off the phone yet?

I know I'm not the first one to say this, but damn, the bezels on the Sony's are HUGE.

                        What year is this? 2010?

Even though the v30 is underwhelming, the other oem's offered units that were so much so. Win by default. One of the most boring IFAs of the decade.

Not just IFA, but the only phone on the current or near future market I would consider buying is the XZ1 Compact as it's the only non-phablet with the closest thing to flagship specs. Shame on all the other manufacturers for not offering us any choices.

Sony Fanboy Bitches, 03 Sep 2017"The LG V30 is MIL-STD-810G certified - or, in other words,... moreIt's not like gsmarena gave the V30 that certification. Sure, It's glass but the G6 proved to be more resilient than it's metal counterparts. If Sony wants that certification why don't they certify their phones?
Also, I rather have a f1.6 camera with OIS and a good dynamic range and theoretically superior low light performance than basically every phone around, than one with a huge sensor and excellent dynamic range but useless at night. Don't get me wrong, I like Sony's cameras but not so much when it's dark (used to have a Z3, I know their cameras came a long distance but why won't they just stabilize them).
Speaking of the audio capabilities of the two phones, the V30 is clearly superior in terms of delivered sound quality (probably not loudness, who knows?) and the whole microphone department. I agree it lacks stereo speakers but meh, I'd still go with the V30.
Personally speaking, I'm triggered by Sony because I waited so patiently for some new techy phone to replace my iPhone but they just rebranded last year's phone with some minor upgrades.. I guess we'll have to wait for the XZ1 Premium this time around..

Anonymous, 03 Sep 2017Phablet is about 6inch displays, it is not easy for carry a... moreA phone can be operated fully by one hand, while keeping a secure grip, a phablet requires two hands.

Only people with really huge hands can operate anything close to 6" fully with one hand.

But as people like large screens for browsing and viewing, it would be great if the smartphone OS's where modified so only a reachable part (user selectable) was active for touch, the rest should be display only. Or put otherwise all important functionality should be within the reach zone. Then the user should define their reach zone depending on their hand size, or all screen if they always use two hands.
