AnonD-653707, 02 Sep 2017Which country do you live in, James?Canada. And they made a really big deal with all carriers to push the P10 duo, but they weren't advertised enough. It was on a few billboards and on the journal for only a week or so, and all interest in the device faded. Right now carriers use the iPhones (as always), S8, the A5, the N8, the G6 and the V30 in their advertising. Koreans have a bigger presence in our lives than we want to admit.

AnonD-670091, 01 Sep 2017I give little value to reviewers, they dont test gaming thr... moreMost reviewers that COMPARE the performance of a Kirin processor with a Snapdragon processor will say that the Kirin executes better and smoother gaming experience, despite the significant benchmark score difference. Turns out that Snapdragon soc uses consumes a lot of power at first and then started to slow down (probably go lower than that of Kirin) after a few minutes and that's why their benchmark scores are always higher. While Kirin soc uses power a little lesser than that of a Snapdragon but remains constant for a long period of time. So IMO the kirin processors are better at gaming than a Snapdragon processors.

Alex, 02 Sep 2017The available games in Android dont even need a 8, 10, 12, ... moreOf course it doesn't need so many cores / clusters. The gta 4 which will come next year , a game which is known that tortured every PC with less than a GTX 295 paired with an i7 @ 4.0 GHz and 8GB of RAM . But no , 12 gpu cores are perfectly fine :) At last it has dx12 and vulkan support , right ?

Look, that's like comparing an SSHD with a Samsung 960 Pro NVME M.2 PCIe SSD. The second one IS obviously faster by an order of magnitude but you still can play games on the SSHD. It is just a little slower. You won't tell the difference in games. Even though I don't like eMMC storage...
As for the GPU, the full size Mali G71 MP20 is destroying the Adreno 540. However, the Karin 970 is likely using the G71 MP12 or the old T880 MP12.

rich watarious, 01 Sep 2017Wow, Huawei is a dangerous phone company to contend with. ... moreCompetition? What competition? You mean that this Chinese phone company is really capable to threaten the big guys? Maybe in their own market, in Asia and perhaps a little in Europe, but you seriously need a lot more than the SoC to be the best. SW is important, looks too, brand recognition and most importantly, a big advertising budget. All tech sites can praise a device, but the average buyer isn't looking online for a new device first. He sees the device on TV or on a billboard first. And right now, I never seen anybody here with the P10/P10+, even less people talking or bragging about it. They're at the RCA/Proscar level of brand recognition.

AnonD-670091, 01 Sep 2017As for CPU performance maybe Kirin performs a little better... moreAdreno always better? Well in terms of Galaxies tell me this.
S1, S2, Note 2, Note4, S6, and S8 in exynos have better GPU performance. And almost always better audio, cpu, and efficiency. With some exceptions.
S1 used power vr in exynos previously know as humingbird. And this is about the only generation Snapdragon had a bit of cpu lead.
S2 had a crappy audio DAC.
Note 4 was may a tad less efficient for some tasks in battery drain.
Note 4 and S6 didn't have as strong of boosts but had far superior longevity in GPU usage. Especially with the ill fated S810.
And please. eMMC 5.1 won't run a game?????? So much wrong about that. YOU are obviously a noob who is just being a spec head and have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

People using still playing all the top graphics games in 2-3 years old phone smoothly. Kirin 960 is beyond your knowledge. It was super powerful .
Yes, adreno is better but in papers . In real world , non of them uses its full potential.
Moreover now you have move to Storage issue. Which proves your intention in only to prove Kirin is a mediocre processor.
Storage is never a big issue in playing the game , only some in loading times . Kirin is a beastly processor for gamers now a days .

rich watarious, 01 Sep 2017Who told you that? Huawei hi silicon kirin is already out ... moreAs for CPU performance maybe Kirin performs a little better vs Snapdragon however we talking about a so marginal difference, just doesnt worth to point out, especially considering when comes to gaming GPU is above everything else.
Adreno > Mali.... I dont see this changing.
Also Huawei always cuts corner with storage you see having eMMC 5.1 internal storage is quite a bottleneck when coming to gaming...UFS 2.0 should be the bare mininum
Please stop spreading misinformation, Huawei Kirin's chipset GPU is worse than Adreno by a longshot, and serious gamer should avoid, anything other than that Adreno/Snap combo
