Anonymous, 04 Sep 2017"Xiaomi can't use these chipsets if they do the price of th... moreYou are right Companies like xiaomi Bulk buy chipsets when they are cheap so that they can componsate it with their razor thin profit margins
BTW this is not only the case for xiaomi every other brand is dumping phones with snapdragon 625 cause Qualcomm are selling it for cheap
Also if a chipset costs around 15-30 $ per piece extra for an OEM add to it the profit margin of the OEM which will again be around 15-30$ hence the increase would be around 40-50$
For Eg if a xiaomi phone is selling for 250$ for SD625 it'll at least cost 300$ for the SD630 at present which does not make sense for the average buyer who won't even know the difference between a SD625 and a SD630
And Currently Phones with SD630 are selling for 400-450$
And Phones with SD 660 are going for 500-550$
Xiaomi clearly doesn't have this leverage where people will buy their SD 630 phones for 450$ and SD 660 phone for 550$ that's one the reasons why xiaomi dosent release its flagships in India cause people would only pay that kind of money for a Samsung or an Apple
Regarding SD 450 the chipset was just launched and won't reach OEMs at least until December after which it'll go into the OEM resting phase so next year budget devices may have SD 450

Merwyn Fernandes, 04 Sep 2017Snapdragon 630 and 660 are still not available widely its n... more"Xiaomi can't use these chipsets if they do the price of the phone will go high"
Newer chipsets will be a few dollars more expensive per unit at worst. Snapdragon 625 and 630 both hovers around $15 with latter being a bit more expensive. Xiaomi still uses Snapdragon 625 at every opportunity, because they probably bought tens of millions of them from Qualcomm for bulk prices, but their inventory should be still full of them.
That's why they also can't use cheaper Snapdragon 450 yet which is almost good as 625.

Anonymous, 04 Sep 2017a1=android one. I predict higher prices unless google subsi... moreNope. They decided on reusing Mi 5X instead of Redmi Note 4 for a reason; to jack up the price. The illusion is about a model with a better still cam and the Mi branding instead of a Redmi. Also in Xiaomi's concern, to not cannibalize the sales of Redmi Note 4 w/ MIUI which obviously more of their baby instead of Google's.

Anonymous, 04 Sep 2017This device will fail hard bcoz of snapdragon 625 a year ol... moreSnapdragon 630 and 660 are still not available widely its not like Qualcomm Releases a Chipset and it can be used in devices it has to go through lot of testing from the OEM side SD 630/660 Devices have just started coming out in the market and are being used on for higher end Midranges like Moto X and Asus zenfone 4 so the chipset is currently Sold by Qualcomm for a higher price
Xiaomi can't use these chipsets if they do the price of the phone will go high and it won't justify the brand also people don't buy xiaomi for the price of a Moto X , zenfone 4 or a Samsung Device
So it'll take at least 6 Months to 1 year more for these chipsets to release on xiaomi device
How many people commenting over here will buy a Xiaomi Device For 400$ - 450$ the price which Moto X4 and Asus Zenfone 4 Currently sells for with SD 630
Even the z2 Play comes with 626

This device will fail hard bcoz of snapdragon 625 a year old chip since snapdragon 660/630 are already shipped to OEM don't why xiaomi not launching redmi note 5 or X1 in India with snapdragon 660 with cheap price.
