This is great news. Superchargers will work just like the one we use on electric vehicles (EV). That means that initial charge/amperage will be higher when the battery has lower % of charge. It usually start slowly dropping down A when the battery reach between 65% - 80%of charge. That way battery chemistry don't get compromised. I am assuming that around 80% of charge Amperage will fall between 2.5A - 3A. Last 20%-10% is usually slower charging.

But if that is the case(4.5A @ 5V), I will be just the Same to Oppo's and Oneplus' VOOC/Dash Chargers .. Not NEW .... but GSMArena is Respectable Tech-Website ..they may Do Errors Sometimes but Not that kind of Mistakes that make them Ignorant .. BTW Lowering Voltage through the cable/charger To Avoid over heating and Damage on the battery when charging is great but Feeding the Battery with a high current(amp) can decrease battery Duration(Charging Cycle) - So It's a give and take scenario

But, I have a swollen battery in my LG by playing games for hours so it has to be plugged in all the time. The heat on the phone is insane. It was not typical use but it did kill the battery and had to replace it.
Anyway, for most users and light usage, the battery deterioration with fast charging is small. Huawei's and OnePlus' implementation is even better as the heat is reduced. For me, I'll be fine with computer USB charging or bring a powerbank on long trips.

Or you write comments because you are borred? I own the HTC M8 which supports QC and after 3 years is still ok and there is no need to change the battery.

i agree with the comments below. any kind of fast charging pretty kills a smartphone battery faster. that is probably fine if one can replace smartphone battery easily; but no, most phones have sealed batteries. making it more difficult are the glass backs of high end phones which requires heating and care to remove the glass.
consumers can get away with these ultra fast charging rates if only phones have larger capacities than we have today.
if phones could at least last for two days despite heavy use, we can get by with 5V, 2A chargers. that is plenty fast if you ask me. if not, there are plenty cheap power banks where a user can carry if they need that extra charge on some days.

High currents require thick cables and there are large power losses. It's much better to have high voltages/low-current and convert to high current inside the phone. Huawei has a lazy approach which does not benefit consumers.

Yes, it is safe but your battery will be dead at 9 months. Charging at 22.5W / 27W is just idiotic.
