Nobody I know use it as a tablet for extended periods of time. Only artists do and at this point there are better options for them as well.
Surface pro has outlived its purpose. It is awkward placed between a full fledge ultrabook (but quite less battery and ports) and a true tablet (again less battery, and far heavier). I do't think anyone wants that.
As a matter of fact I much prefer different levels of portability. A phone that is ultraportable, a tablet that I can take to most places, a laptop that I only take it with me when I definitely need it and a desktop which is of course stationery.
2in1s try to be two devices at once, but fail at both... It was a good idea back when tablets were heavier and ultrabooks far weaker... they do not cut it anymore.

Hope next one has the cable lock feature like usual laptop, can also chain to the detachable type cover as well, plus SD card slot instead of microSD, Type-C USB plus 2 USB-A.Thanks

More and more people want to work on Macs and thanks to BYOD companies are moving out of windows. iPhones and iPads dominate the corporate world and they help Mac to become more popular for business too. IBM finds Mac more cost effective than Windows, they have already purchased thousands of Macs at expense of Windows pc's. Many big companies smell the trend and consider Macs because this is what many employees want. The younger generations who love iPhones and iPads will abolish windows as they move for college to work. For them pc's are the daddy's and mommy's toy not theirs. The pc's will eventually retire along with daddy and mommy.

I'm fully aware of Solaris for many years and know for a fact that it's trend is going down.
Alot of companies using Solaris are migrating to UNIX/LINUX.
However, their operations for Consumers and Support are still massively using Windows.
So, no, windows will not go away anytime soon.

Microsoft is only still alive because people in their 40's and 50's have it as a staple of their 401(k).
They artificially inflate its value.
Once these people are all retired in 20 years, Microsoft will be dead.
It's the same reason IBM stayed around forever.
As it stands, Microsoft is only profitable in three areas. Mobile space and Desktop computing are not those areas.
Your Active Directory at work is a virtual server hosted on a Linux hypervisor.

Have you been sleeping under a rock?
Most businesses to date - big or small - are using Windows platform for daily business operations. Do you know how much will the cost of transition be from Windows to any other platforms? Plus, you have to factor in stability and compatibility. No business would like to get their operations stopped because of technical glitches nor do they want to risk financial loss just because they don't want WIndows anymore.

The devs can't afford to invest money and time in less popular OS like Linux, there is no return of the investment... so is like a vicious circle.
