Why the downgrade? I understand the screen to be 6 inch, makes the phone overall compact. But the downgrade in battery and same camera is disappointing. Also the front snapper is a joke, 5MP and it's nearly 2018. Good SoC and RAM / storage but overall lacking... no waterproofing too.

Disappointing. No amoled screen, no great camera setup, no large battery. I'll be looking elsewhere. Bummer because it looks awesome with those tiny bezels.

Manufacturing amazing phones with atleast one deal breaker everytym....
This camera setup can barely compete with 18 months old s7.....
Forget samsung.
Even more than a year old oneplus 3 will beat this setup.

Basicall a downgrade.
Apart from SD835 everything else is a step back.
Camera is still bad.
Screen is now way smaller due to using an unusable aspect ratio
Bigger bezels (small screen to body ratio).
1000 (!) Mah less battery (what where they thining)?
So you get worse battery, screen, more bezels oh and its screen is still IPS.
Tell me what was the need of mi mix 2 apart from an obvious need to tone down costs?
BTW the most dissapointing of all is their abandonment of 17:9. Imo it is/was the best aspect ratio for bezeless. 1:9 for the keys and 16:9 for the content. Only Xiaomi did bezeless right and have now f'd up by using this ultrawide tripe...

OMG, are they for real??? 1000mah less? 1000? What were they thinking?
We know that the screen won't be as good as the screen on SO+, neither the camera,or even the performance, more the premium feel and prestige.
Their sure and best bet was to instead offer practicality, a bigger battery with roughly the same specs, even with α worse optimization would offer better battery performance.
And they waste that in the pursuit of becoming thin as an iPhone, because Apple knows best... What a disappointment!!! Shame, i had some high hopes on this...

Android phone this year are getting lamer and lamer. U11 was badly designed, Essential was nothing, Note 8 was boring, only the V30 is somewhat decent. Apple is gonna kill those phones

LAME. 6.0" superwide screen isn't much bigger than 5.5" 16:9 and far smaller than the old 6.4" screen. The battery is also down to regular size size.

But then, a tester review said the call quality is still not up to par.
That was a deal breaker on Mix 1 - need the phone for calls too.
It's dual sim standby, smaller size than original for better hand grip,
shouldn't Xiaomi anticipate that people needing the phone for calls too, would be expecting major improvement on call quality
The highlight of the presentation was the engineering breakthrough in inventing a jade look-alike ceramic back in one piece, without separate frame = special edition

AMOLED Screen Have to be of really high quality to Last you for a long Time Xiaomi devices which are full of compromises usually go for cheaper quality Amoled Panels which Get Screen Burn Issue Easily
Hence IPS LCD is a Risk free Solution
Even the IPS LCD panels used on RN4 are of really cheap quality and Most of them have the Dead pixel Issue

... moreWell i can't understand who are the "other" people that have no other storage but they bought a $500+ phone and then store it all on their phone as a "portable computer".
The only reason i can think is it's for the heavy multimedia user that maybe use premium services in apps like spotify or netflix and store it all inside the phone instead of streaming it. Not "someone that don't have any storage option yet buying a $500 phone with 256GB storage".
