Resellers flash some BS crap ROM filled with malware. Luckily Xiaomi offers their official Global ROMs for download. I usually re-flash any Xiaomi phones I bought outside official channels.

Anonymous, 12 Sep 2017MIUI isn't better, it looks like 2012 htc ui without a menuPerhaps many people feel it this way, but the main reason for me to buy Xiaomi devices is the MIUI. I use it for 4 years and I started with ported version on my Huawey Y300. Since then I've always been on MIUI or in some rare cases such as with my Droid mini - with MIUI lite.
I like it a lot and never had a need for classic view Android. My office phone is Samsung A3 and I hate it even with Nova launcher.

Who needs stock Android while MIUI is much better?
The only advantage is the opportunity to go for Oreo next months.

What about OTA. If you port Android Stock ROM on 5X, will it be receiving regular security patches and any firmware updates

If you want A1 because of stock android, then just wait for it because this ROM doesn't have OTA capability. It's ported from A/B storage to single.

Anonymous, 11 Sep 2017Unlocking the bootloader does not wipe the device.Actually, Xiaomi changed it such that unlocking the bootloader wipes your device for security reasons. It's so that someone steals your phone and doesn't know your password can't flash another ROM on it then steal your personal data on it. Partitions on the device are locked out until you can unlock the device. It's a pretty smart design

                            It happens every time.

Well done to the developer then.

Unlocking the bootloader does not wipe the device.

Kristi Skënderi, 11 Sep 2017To add to that according to Gsmarena itslef on their websit... moreDon't think GSM Areana sells phones So don't take their word for it.

Mi 5x currently is selling for 250£ on Gearbest And the Mi A1 is 170£ if you convert the Indian Pricing Both these prices are for the 4gb 64gb model which is the only version that the Mi A1 is sold in.

So clearly Mi A1 is cheaper than the 5x

Also since you can install the stock ROM on the 5X you may very well be able to install Miui on the Mi A1 this is for all the Miui Fans out there who were worried about the extended support that miui gives

I am not one of them Hate Miui

"Currently the Xiaomi Mi A1 is a bit cheaper than its equally-specced sibling Mi 5X, but the 5X is easier to buy due to its wider availability."

Not really. The Mi A1 will be released officially in 40 countries, while the Mi 5X will only be available via importers outside China.
