Chill, people. FaceID (which is 3D BTW, unlike any android) is just an optional security feature. If you have child porn in your phone and too scared of the police finding out, then you can just use pins or passwords.

Anonymous, 13 Sep 2017another fandroid silly comment. face id didn't fail. prese... moreNope.. You are wrong.. It asked for the pin code because Face Id failed multiple times leading it to lock the function and asked the pin to reactivate again.. If the phone has just been restarted it would say "TouchID/FaceID requires passcode when iphone restarts" Try it on any iPhone.. LOL

Rephrasing one Russian singer:
"Whether rappers are mumbling or hairy headbanger are buzzing inside your headphones,
This is f***ing b******t from the perspective of economics and mathematics."
Please excuse me for such a poor translation. :)
Regarding the topic. Yeah Apple did a great job in consolidating different tech in one smartphone. That always was their approach - take something that people are used to and make it in a different way. In any case this will push other brands to pay attention on the tech that they've pretty much gave up on (talking about Qi Charge and Face Unlock).
ps. still waiting for a surface phone... with a nice bitbucket-jira integration and ability to run VSCode and Node =) Everything else is... meh..

Very nice phone with fast charging an all, but the price tag. S8 comes in at 689 with fingerprint scanner. Iphone 10 is mind blowing 1000 without fingerprint scanner. Not telling if the iphone facial recognition work better then the samsung, but samsung also included facial recognigion unlock and curved edge. If a thief got hold off the phone guessing a face from holding up a pic to unlock a sansung could still be a tricky job. No doubt. Some apple website won't function on android phone such as media direct off apples website itself. Also no icloud email will be usable in any android device. My suggestion is ditch the icloud account don't bother with facetime. Use what app instead and don't go on any apple website. Then no problem. If you want to save 220 quid then get the s8.

FaceID looks like a real smartphone innovation from Apple. It also seems to be backed up by the right hardware and doesn't rely on past gimmicky software implementation.
But what if I want to protect my phone from my twin? This is why I feel Apple should have included an iris scanner or a fingerprint scanner (even if it is not placed in the optimal position, like what the S8 did).

presenter made a mistake. it clearly says on the screen while he held it up, "please enter passcode to enable face id"
he forgot to do that and raised to unlock with nothing happening.
passcode is only required when device is powered on.
he most likely forgot the device was powered on and it asked for passcode.
u don't need brains to figure that out but apple haters do normally come out with nonsense just to troll. sad lives

The presenter shamelessly said, "Lets try that again". Lol. What happened to being accurate and fast? What happened to claim it even work laying flat on a table? That all go down the drain. You pay $999 for a FaceID that dont even work properly and guess what; no fingerprint sensor as a substitute. No earphone jack. No sd card witb capability of recording 4K in 60fps with only 64gb(cheapest model at $999!) internal storage. Wow! Innovation. Worst part is iphone 8 duos is no different than iphone 7 duos.

It needs to scn ur iris as well so if you are not looking at it or eyes closed won't let unlock/pay in iPhone X... let the device become available and people get their usage experience. We shouldn't judge way before it comes into our hands.
Same stupid assumptions came to light when apple integrated touch id into the 5S like it can easily be hacked n all.

What an invention! the use of Face ID to pay, so that your children take advantage to buy what they want by just showing you a window of your mobile ... Use the mobile of a person known to pay one of your purchases without knowing it ... It is very difficult then to know who could be if you know how and there are several people together. What an invention!
