It definitely performed underwhelming, but is was designed to be the more powerefficient over the 810 and definitely better than the 805. (Although, honestly, I preferred the 805 over the 808 any day.)
      Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that actual performance of a certain SoC does not define its name/series/etc and naming schemes are prone to changing multiple times (resulting in unlogical branding, followed by a rebrand down the line).

        The Snapdragon 635 hasn't even come out yet but I can already see phone manufacturers avoiding it and using SD450 instead, much like how they are using the SD630 now even though the SD660 should've been a better choice.

          Entry level SoCs don't get love, still stuck at 28nm.

            Initially 650 and 652 were And 618 and 620 but since this was confusing and People Couldn't actually differentiate between the high end Midrange Chips And Low End Midrange chips the 650 and above series was started

            Technically even the 450 is a midrange Chipset as it almost on par with 625 and the 808 was a midrange chipset.

            So your order although correct if you see the series by number but the Categorization is wrong as not all the chip sets in a particular series are either high end ,Mid range or Low end they are Mixed

              But asking 300-400$ for a midrange phone that uses SoC of only A53?!? Thats pure travesty,and no feature set can offset that blatant stealing.

                Well, that they are preferring to use the SD660 instead of the SD630, obviously it is positive and definitely not negative (haha). Then, regarding the rumoured SD635 to bridge the gap between the two, it is slightly a different story. But basically, no matter what, hopefully the rumoured SD635 will be an excellent performer.

                        800 is super highend
                        400 is middle range
                        200 is low end.

                        Not all phones can not be highend or we will not have 100-250$ phones...
