Old Tim Cookie has a farm...
and he likes milking his iCows as hard as possible.
Out of the box, the only thing that's charging fast is Apple's bank account.
It doesn't even have actual fast charging, just faux fast charging by means of a macbook charger, which won't do the iPhone battery any good... but the sooner the iCow needs a new iPhone because the battery went bust, the better it is.
Even that faux fast charging will cost you dearly:
charger: 40€ in the US, 60€ in Europe.
cable: 20€ in the US, 30€ in Europe.
total: 60€ in the US, 90€ in Europe.
Now let's add this to the device prices:
iPhone 8: 583€ US, 799€ Europe
iPhone 8 Plus: 666€ US, 909€ Europe
iPhone X: 833€ US, 1149€ Europe
total, with faux fast charging:
iPhone 8: 643€ US, 889€ Europe
iPhone 8 Plus: 726€ US, 999€ Europe
iPhone X: 893€ US, 1239€ Europe

It's one thing not to include it in the 8/8 Plus box, but the X? Really? $1,000, only 64GB and not even a fast charger in the box? I love Apple but sometimes they make me cringe

Yes, and you are right that it might reduce the life of the iPhone's batteries. Not only with iPhone 7, 7+, 8 and 8+; you can try this experiment with the older iPhones too with a lightning port, and you will get the same result, Fast charging in all iPhones and not only to iPhone 8 and 8+...

Lol not surprised by this at all and totally sounds like an apple thing to do. Hang on, I saw some tests done the other day where iPhone 7's where charged with an iPad charger and it charged quicker, so what's the difference here, all they are doing is selling you a beefed up charger to initiate the fast charging, it's just a higher rated charger. Samsung just sell their usual adaptive fast chargers, the hardware itself supports the fast charging on a chipset level, actually most android manufacturers include a compatible charger. I hope people call apple out on this ridiculous move.

AnonD-696542, 15 Sep 2017Means Apple still didn't bring actual fast charging like Sa... moreDude, that's Apple. If they found a way to degrade the battery with the consent of the foolish user, then they're super mega happy because less iPhones will be resold by second-hand ways and more people will upgrade to the newer ones since the battery won't last a call.

AnonD-85805, 15 Sep 2017Its not new and exclusive to iphone 8 and 8+. When Iphone 7... moreMeans Apple still didn't bring actual fast charging like Samsung adaptive fast charging, they are just forcing more current to flow through a heavier charger instead of implementing actual tech. I had a note 3 with no fast charging but the charger was 5 V and 2 A. Now I've S8 with adaptive fast charging but the charger is still 5 V and 2 A with adaptive fast charging, it's not difficult to understand that Samsung used the technology to bring fast charging with the same capacity charger while Apple wants you to use a trick which will force more current in a smaller battery, it's definitely bad for the battery health as iPad battery is not same as iPhone battery so asking people to buy and use iPad charger in iPhone is really very informal. Where is the actual adaptive fast charging??

Its not new and exclusive to iphone 8 and 8+. When Iphone 7 and 7+ was launched last year they carried out the same experiment with the macbook charger and usb-c to lightning cable, which resulted in 64% faster charging speeds in iPhone 7 and 7+... so in the end apple is just applying marketing techniques to sell their chargers and cables. A slight increase in charging amps, watts and voltages will obviously increase the charging speeds. Nothing new...

It still lacks fast wireless charging like Samsung but still all that drama??? They could atleast put a fast wired charger in the box. Apple should think straight sometimes.

Apple is the master of tricks to lure customers and bite their bait and suck the money of the people...why don't they put the fast charger in the box instead of having it sold separately? It is a pattern even in their laptop...they design with limited ports so that people will be buying their adapters that would add to the already expensive device.

So they sell the base 64gb model this year for just £20 less than the 128gb iPhone 7 last year, and you then have to fork out another £75 to take advantage of fast charging!?!?!
Truly a d*ck move by Apple, they deserve all the criticism they get for it!

So almost $100 for a charger. I can buy a moto for that price which I think will come with better charger than default apple
