Phones have long became smart before the iPhone.. There were palms, WinMos and symbians.. And no they don't need an app store to become smart.. Even PC to this day don't have app store.. Just steam store for games.. Heck even on Android a lot of people sideload apps instead of getting them from the store.. The Nokia dumbphone has a Java store do you consider them smart??

Way before the iPhone, there was no app store, phones weren't considered smart, and that all glass gimmick? Yeah that's them. I think you meant "invent". 'Cause yeah Apple didn't invent them BUT improved upon and innovated a lot of tech both software and hardware. Invent =/= Innovate. Learn the difference. Oh and it's "Their". Not "There". Learn the difference for those too.

He saw an i... moreIf I'm not wrong , the Simon phone, which was the very first touch screen phone, was a actual innovation and even the Apple Newton touch pad. Needless to say , LG and Apple are the real problem for stealing the idea which lead Android phones to copy them. SIMPLE!!!!!!

My prediction would be that all smartphone manufacturer will lose their ideas. Only Nokia and blackberry can solve this issue but, that will be though.Why iam saying Blackberry is that they got more advantage of Nokia thanks for not joining in a smartphone, but rather a qwerty phone type and high chance of making a foldable phone!!!

He saw an idea that was already made and made it a bit better like with the ipods. With phones they started copying others and then sue them who they copied. There innovation was to start patent war only and that's about it.

Have you seen the results of the benchmarks of the new iPhone chips? we are in an era of diminishing returns in regards to any truly new ground-breaking innovations, so I'm not sure what you were expecting

Jim, 19 Sep 2017do you really think so? iphone with the lack of innovation since Jobs' passing. Samsung with the bloatware both hardware (bixby button) and software ever since with lagware UI (i know 'cause i have both the S8+ and Mi 6 to compare and Note 4 and S5. Every other phone with comparable soc and ram are either faster or has less bloat). So yep. I really think so. Unlike fanboys who are just plain biased and they don't even own the products or have experience with the ones they're criticizing at to really know.

Stretched over side glass doesn't mean anything - because there is NO pixels!
Just huge black stripes on sides, which from my point of view are bezels which are hided behind glass!!!
