19 September 2017
We’ve heard of mergers between Sprint and T-Mobile in the past, but nothing has ever escalated past that.

Many of us fought this battle hard when At&t tried to buy Tmo also when there were rumblings of Sprint angling for a merger or a buy out. I think Tmo is doing just fine on its own and will do so even better in the next few years when their 600Mhz band is fully up and running. Adding Sprint will just slows them down. Yes it might make them larger but they will still likely be third. Myake has always been for the four major carriers to battle it out, it is good for consumers...and so far Tmo is kicking ass.

Trump Fan 1980, 20 Sep 2017 I wish I lived in Canada. :-) Maybe one day .You'd love it. But since every province works like it's own country, you'll have to choose wisely. Stuff change like taxes, education, health, highway network, mobile network speeds and coverage (ON and QC have the biggest LTE-A/4CA coverage in Canada but most agglomerations are covered), prices and some laws too.

You should've been there when Vidéotron had their Double Data promotion... All the carriers in the province rushed to cope with it and made some insane deals!

Finally, there's a new law that forces every carrier to unlock your phone free of charge, no matter which one is it or when you took your contract. It becomes active in December

T-Mobile just wants Sprint's 5G spectrum, there are cheaper ways to get it like letting them go bankrupt.

In the meantime Ontario customers are being charged huge fees for wireless plans. They have only 3 carriers and a lot of cheap MNVOs. In Quebec though, since we add Vidéotron to the equation, prices are about 2x as low for the same thing. So, chances are that if there's such a merger, monthly fees will rise sharply.
