Why not make it unlimited? People will not use cellular network if they know they have no more data.

AnonD-565268, 20 Sep 2017After iOS 11 and iTunes 12.7 I agree. Now iTunes no longer ... moreAbsolutely agree! A waste for people like myself who don't live in super fast wi-if everywhere America. Every single app now needs to be re-downloaded over cellular network every time we need them. . Plus now if you go to your iTunes media folder and see the folder mobile applications - still full of the apps. In my case nearly 100gigs of apps. You'd think if they were terminating the app support in iTunes they'd have made good to remove that folder. Wasted space now? Delete or keep.

Anonymous, 20 Sep 2017So owning an iPhone is useless if you don't have wifi. I do... moreAfter iOS 11 and iTunes 12.7 I agree. Now iTunes no longer manages your apps and you can’t download anything beyond 150mb. iPhones have become an expensive toy now. I am googling since yesterday about the work around to bypass this stupid limit.

This only adds to the stupidity of the newest iTunes 12.7 update. Whereby iTunes no longer provides mobile application support from within iTunes as previous versions did. Now you have to manage your applications from within the App Store app. Very inconvenient when you are not able to access data networks with super high speeds like you can in America. Having to re download applications from the App Store every time you want them is a stupid data wasting setup in my opinion. And I'm sure th millions of other people who live in data-poor or third world countries who were using iTunes as the management system for their apps and media.

Anonymous, 20 Sep 2017So you androiders dont care at all that this issue is a non... moreyou're pissed because we android users have no limit whatsoever on any device. When you buy a phone, it's yours, no brand should limit the user since the device is his.
Look at onelpus 5 devices, Oneplus even courages users to unlock the bootloader and root the device, it still enters the warranty. Even tho the device is fully unlocked you can do further by modifying the system build to whatever liking and if anything goes wrong, the warranty is there present for a last resort. And all that for half price of an iphone.
Try and beat that iSheep

AnonD-684631, 20 Sep 2017You're Absolutely right , I agree IOS= GET LOCKED for nothing So you androiders dont care at all that this issue is a non-issue for most users, since the networks send settings to iphones to configure this? In reality most iphone users have no such limit.
iPhone was ment to be operator controlled by design, this was Steves vision, and thats how it still is regarding mobile data usage. Up untill iPhone 5 we couldnt even buy iphones without going through an operator, well known facts but still chose to ignore? Potatoes gonna potate, that you proven.

Tom, 20 Sep 2017Well that's just not true. I've been downloading up to 500M... moreYou are correct, its only a default value that network providers can and will override, in reality very very few has a 150MB limit. I never had one on iphone.

This is wrong, the network operators will usually send settings to iphones, and this limit is one of the things they can override, 150 is simply a default value that most users arent affected by. This is also why iphones on different networks can have different options and wording for mobile data/voice settings, for example on my network that support voLTE tge iphone get a setting for enabling this, on some other networks it doesnt.
I have no mobile data download limit, never had, this is simply another example of people not understanding the tech theyre talking about, less they know the louder they are.

This cap is actually weird. And it makes no sense. More so, as with the same iphone, if I create a Hotspot or use it with a laptop, I can consume many GB of operator data without hindrance. On 3rd party browsers on iphone, I can download file of any size. So, why this cap on app store alone? Strange policies.
.
Anyways, no OS or brand is devoid of its own drawbacks, apart from its strength. Apple has its own loopholes. But, what many android fans vouch and curse apple that iphone lacks this, and lacks that, I find that sheer exaggeration and blatant lies. I have used samsung S4, and don't find iphone 6 and 7 lack in any specific field. They are equally capable, and can perform most anticipated things that I used to imagine on s4. And further truth is, many features that android fans boast about, they were present in my old Symbian N95 a decade ago. Be it hotspot, ftp/wifi/samba servers, themes n customization, python, torrents and many more. And most such features were actually just showpiece. Kind of, discover a new feature, feel proud n boast, n then use it never again.
