I am planning to buy the NOKIA X7-00, but worried of the transition of NOKIA to Microsoft Windows by the end of 2011. does it mean this phone will be obsolete or will be switched to windows ??? I need to know before buying. Thanks

I think the X7 looks really nice and solid imo.. i was put off with phone like the first galaxy s due to cheap plastic feel to it. I'm not a big fan of symnbian tho from having a omnia i8910 HD which is a brilliant for it's time and I can't really comment on symbian anna as i haven't used it.

Anonymous, 06 Jun 2011You are really comparing game performance from different pl... moreI was talking about LOADING speed. Not actually game performance.

n8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=bBWCFndyhns#t=76s it tooks forever to load.

same game different iPhone's http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ok4LaIt-wSc&feature=player_detailpage#t=45s 3g (2008) is kind of same level with N8.

same galaxy s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLqEPMGehRA&feature=player_detailpage#t=9s 10 second, not bad either

desire took 10 seconds too, not bad

But nokia about 25 second, really? and this same goes for every heavy games, loading times are 2-3 times slower than others.

How long or small amount of time you think that game would take load with 1ghz processor if N8 could had it?

And i didn't meant screen or usb or anything like that. I was talking about speed the whole time.

Hello there, don't you know Symbian OS doesn't need much processor speed. All the androids are bumping up the processor speed because they the OS is bulky.

Since Symbian requires less power than e.g. iOS or Android, then 680MHZ is enough to provide a speedy and smooth user experience.

AnonD-1825, 06 Jun 2011Android doesn't need it either, faster processor=everything... moreYou are really comparing game performance from different plataforms?
iPhone games are much better optimized than any other plataform, that's why even with worse GPU, games on the iPhone runs better than on N8, and even on Android.
Also, I would really love to see where did you see this comparasion of the NFS Shift loading between N8 and iPhone 4.

I also believe that Nokia should put fast processors on their phones, but it's obviously that Symbian need much less CPU power to run smoother than Android, take a look how laggy are all Motorola phones, Galaxy Ace, Spica and so on...

Stone age hardware? I thought that comparing games from different platforms were enough to prove that you have such a limited technical knowledge. Get real man, use a high-end CPU chip is not what makes a good hardware, you just need to buy from any phone parts supplier.
If Nokia use stone age hardware, what you have to say about the poor cameras and sound quality of HTC phones? What do you have to say about the cheap plastic used on Samsung and Sony Ericsson phones? What do you have to say about CBD AMOLED screens, Pentaband 3G, USB On-the-go, Bluetooth 3.0, FM Transmitter etc on Nokia phones?
Oh sorry, I forgot that CPU is everything that matter about "hardware".

Anonymous, 06 Jun 2011Listen it has a 680mhz CPU because it needs just that. Symb... moreAndroid doesn't need it either, faster processor=everything works faster, it's so easy. iPhone 4 works faster than iPhone 3gs, htc sensation works faster than desire, galaxy s2 works faster than galaxy s. Still all of them were smooth and fast already.

And why you are saying symbian doesnt need faster, what about other apps and games etc?

for example need for speed shift last loading point takes 25 second to load. IPhone 4 do same with 6 second, almost no waiting just play. i bet galaxy s2 do same but i didn't find any video for galaxy s2 running shift.

Every platform can nowdays run their OS smoothly, is not the big thing, you need to run much more than OS, smoothly and fast.

Of course when nokia puts those 1ghz processors it's going to be very good, but because nokia doesn't have them now, actually you dont need it, same old same old.

You know here is also users who got used to use those fast phones, why want to go back to use stone aged hardware?

If it's enough for you true nokiafans ok, but many many others want to nokia get their parts updated, because they are not going to buy those outdated phones.

I mean i do not like an advertising wispering in my ear "man, that new iPhone is so cool, you MUST have it", or "Droid rocks, you do not if you miss it". I like to have some "smart features" on my phone, but leading role of that device is communication, not computation. Music listening is a viable usage option, but again.... the only reason to ask for more than 1 speaker is to show off. that is insanely STUPID!!!

As for the OS look is your personal opinion if you like it or not in my opinion its better than android.Although Symbian is behind other os's it can run at those low spec phones while android 2.3 can't without lugging a lot (more than Symbian does). And Symbian does have a descend ecosystem ,a satisfying amount of apps (without viruses) ,there 's actually no point having 300000 apps , and halve of them having duplicates that do exactly the same thing.yes i am disappointed about Nokia abandoning their OS and moving with Microsoft, as all of us do and so we decided to move with other brands(but no other brand has the same build quality as Nokia does)
