I'm not an Apple fan boy. The X on the iPhone X refurs to 10 a roman numeral, as it did with Mac OS. Also it's to celibrate 10 years of the iPhone. The X on Samsung is just alphabet lettering.

If folded into 3, one screen could be exposed to use, while the other 2 are closed and protected.
Imagine if its a tablet that's 4mm's thin.
So when its folded into three as a phone, it would be a respectable 12mm thickness.
And having 3x 9:16 (phone) screen folded out, will yield a new (tablet) screen of 27:16... which is an aspect ratio of 1:1.6875 very close to aspect ratio of 1:1.7778 (16:9).
The single 9:16 phone screen could be 5.7 inches diagonal... making the 27:16 tablet screen a respectable 9.75 inches diagonal. That's basically being able to have an ultrabook, folding it, and taking it with you as a phone!

Apple copied Sony . then.
But, there was Moto X in 2014.
But, there was Xperia X1 in 2008.
And there were a lot of products which included X in their name , including films ("XXX", stared Vin Diesel) and TV-series ("The X-Files").
Usage of letter "X" (I could say rather overuse of ) is common in industry.
Why start flame war over that?

I think everyone is aware that Apple didn't invent the letter X, people. It's just funny because Apple and Samsung are always head to head and Apple literally JUST released a phone called iPhone X. So stop trying to be too clever for your own good.
