Technology is not "copying" from Apple, but the fact that manufacturers are copying the whole iPhone idea. Yes there were many touchscreen phones out in previous years but the iPhone is probably the first to only use your fingers (with no stylus) to actually operate the phone and that's what I think people mean by copying. We all know touchscreen isn't something that was just created last night.

Let's hope now that HTC and other manufacturers move away from the QVGA screen resolution, weak processor, so-so camera, poor memory capacity etc for the Pocket PC and go onto at least minimum spec VGA with at least 256k colour depth, 400 Mhz processor 3.2M pixel camera and 256MB ROM, 256MB RAM. This, i am quoting as minimum spec, not ideal or ultimate spec. Ideally i would like the Toshiba G900 spec WVGA touchscreen (800 x 480), 16M colours, 624Mhz processor, 3.2M pixel camera, WM6 Professional operating system, 1GB ROM, 2GB RAM, SDHC Card slot, USB2.0 with USB plug-in accessories, compatibility fingerprint sensor, HTC Touch size with pop out qwerty keyboard, Wifi etc

I must say, it almost is the best phone I'm looking for. I love the whole touchscreen thing and I certainly love the new cube interface.

But, as always with handy smart phones today there's a downside. The text input is quite nasty. You can popup a qwerty keyboard, which you can´t use with your vingers, simply because the keyboard hitpoints are to small. There is a larger version installed on the phone, but that one doesn´t function like i´ts suppoed to. There is to litte textspace left.

I would love the phone if it had writing recognition! In the overall it really gives a new and fresh design to a Windows Mobile interface, but unfortunately I´m still not satisfied :)

Hey everybody just lay off the "manufacturer A did this before manufacturer B" stuff. Competition is good for the consumer. If one manufacturer came out with an item whatever it was and no other manufacturer was allowed to make anything similar can you imagine the world we would live in? They wouldn't have to upgrade and improve the items and we would be stuck with it or otherwise have to do without it.
Anyway, all you lot who love Apple so much think that other manufacturers are copying their ideas then could we not say that they (Apple) are copying the ideas of the PC, mobile phone, music player manufacturers etc in bringing out something that already exists in some form or other? Or are you lot just techno-spoiled? What sort of mobile phone did Apple have out 10 or even 5 years ago??? HTC is no way as big as Apple corp. but it brings out very good Pocket PC and smartphones but i wish the processors were faster and the screen resolution was at least VGA standard with a Pocket PC the size of the Touch. Give HTC and other manufacturers a chance and in about a years time the processor spec and screen resolution should be up with the market leaders or even ahead. I on the other hand know that one device cannot fully replace everything - yet, for myself anyway. These are exciting times in the mobile world.

This is very interesting, sleek design and function, and a good step forward. I am only very surprised that the processor is only 200MHz. My current I-mate phone runs windows mobile at 200MHz and i'm always waiting for it keep up with general function, even entering the MMS function. This puts me right off as a trick phone but NO go.

                          Hi All,

We were invited to the Global launch of this device in London on Tuesday, and we have them in stock today. I must say that this IS a great phone, with a great mix of form and function. The touch screen is very differant to the previous HTC models in that it requires more pressure to use, so ideal for one handed use.

To those of you complaining/comparing the OS with that of the iphone, you should know that this version of WM was 2 years in the making by the worlds biggest supplier of WM devices, and one of the best innovators in modern mobile devices. The iphone is to be Apples 1st attempt at the mobile market.

                          so...

Prada phone by LG - Get that if your a label basher and dont mind a slow, unresponsive, 1st attempt at a touch screen phone.

3G/HSDPA - Moan about the lack of this if you cant go a day without video calling you mum to get some parental comfort that you so badly need, cos lets face it a GPRS/WiFi combo is more than fine in most situations when you take into consideration compression on network level.

HTC Touch - Fantastic interface, tried and tested WM platform, great design.

                          Thats my two cents.

nice to incorporate the finget touch feature to the best mobile OS (windows mobile 6) but for God's Sake! GIVE IT BETTER SPECS! And still with the crappy 320x240 screen with 65k colours?? Thats the same as my JAM! Come to think of it, my JAM has better hardware than this phone!!!

My apologies. Let me rephrase. HTC should make this phone as good as iPhone sounds so that when it comes out nobody would even look at it.

No 3G, not a world phone. I don't care about the camera, but if they try to make an iPhone wanna be, at least they could give us 3MP. C'mon HTC you disappointed me. Wonder how much it's gonna be...heh.

                                  I LOVE my Tytn.

"be original htc! why do you steal the ideas from the iphone!"

Why is everyone saying that people are stealing ideas from the iPhone. They didn't come up with this technology overnight. It takes awhile to come up with stuff like this. And touchscreen technology has been around for years but you don't see anyone saying Apple stole it. Half of Apples products have been created by other companies and Apple buys them out and applies the Apple magic touch. Yeh Apple is a great company but they buy half their ideas and products.

to me.. i will prefer LG prada.
no 3g, hsdpa, edge, wifi. nothing much extra and is thicker and heavier than prada. nowadays, people prefer thinner and more efficient phones.
