Hope they make profits and remains 'more for your money'. Unlike Apple, samsung, vivo, oppo, now oneplus as well, who all believes in 'more marketing for your money'.

For the price 100-150 USD/Euros you get a lot of phone, I'd say top five in that segment 100-200 Euro. I recommended a Xiaomi 4 to a Greek girl that lost her Hurlaway, she is very pleased with it.

AnonD-704941, 02 Oct 2017Sir, have you ever used a phone with Snapdragon 625. It was... moreYeah, I got given both phones Note 3 and Note 4.
Moving around the UI and doing light tasks such as listening to music were equal on both.
I heard about QSD 650/652/653 chips warming up, but didn't encounter this on my Note 3.

However, whenever I pushed the device such as playing a demanding App or browsing a busy website... the QSD 650 performed well, whereas the QSD 625 was always making me wait for 10 seconds before interacting.

While these mere seconds don't seem long, as a percentage, it really is a large performance difference. And these small hiccups break your flow, and the time wasted does add-up quickly in the day. The Cortex A53 cores are great, but limiting.

I still think the QSD 625 is a phenomenal chip... for a < EU$170/ < US$200 device. Its a solid SideGrade for anyone coming from an older phone with a QSD 800 chipset.
However, out there on the International Market, the Redmi Note's were selling closer to ~ US$250/ ~ EU$220 mark. Which is worrying when you have the Lenovo Zuk Z2 with its QSD 820 chipset selling for US $270/EU $240.

nothing-, 02 Oct 2017The mi mix 2 is tempting me to get one. I am just hesitant ... moreThey are upgrading their 4 year old models to the latest MIUI 9, people only see "Android" updates, but MIUI is way ahead in terms of features than stock (yes it's buggy, but they are improving). They give security updates faster than Moto, which has the so called "stock android" for "faster updates".
And believe me MIUI 9 is a great upgrade, you will notice it in performance, and they are not breaking their 4 year old models by giving MIUI 9, unlike some half-eaten fruit company

Redmi note 4 64gb regular price is $199, but in festive sale it was selling for $151 with SBI cards which most people have resulting in huge numbers.
This was not Diwali sale, Diwali sale will start 3 days before Diwali (19th oct).

650/652 had a habit of heating up, and there was no good replacement for it.
This is why 625 was used, and Xiaomi didn't make any mistake doing this.
Literally, no customer using Note 4 is unhappy with its performance.

I have literally seen 100s of these phones.

N4M, 02 Oct 2017Dear Xiaomi , kindly give good hardware atleast on Redmi no... moreA lot of that could be attributed to the exclusive use of the Cortex A53.
While a supercharged Cortex A55 might be enough oomph for most people at the midrange segment in 2016... they don't stand well in 2017-2018.

I think Xiaomi has realised their misstep there, so I believe for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 they will instead use the QSD 660.

Eventually we should see the use of ARM's DynamIQ with decent 14nm wafers (not that rubbish 16nm slab that GlobalFoundaries was selling) in the midrange chips/devices.
Setups with 5-cores of Cortex A55's where four can be turned off, and ranging in frequency from 0.3 - 1.9GHz, AND also having a 1-core of Cortex A75 that can be turned off ranging in frequency from 1.5 - 2.5GHz. That way, the single-core performance is there if needed... and there is an okay amount of total/multicore performance too. All without the expense of efficiency and battery life.
