Samsung is increasing the size because of the competition but thats not mandatory. The A5 is more meant for regular day to day users with WITH ONE HAND USE. If a phone is made with 5" display very good processor( eg: exynos or snd 660) which is powerful as well as efficient put in a battery about 3000mah add all relevant features like fingerprint amoled reasonable pixel desnsity ( a perfect 5.1"with 1080p is well enough it wont drain the processor so better battery life and above 330 ppi nobody is gonna see any pixels or rough resolution). A dual camera etc may be a norm but see pixel it has avoided it, a good 12mp camera like in s7 ( or even the same camera can be used) with ois and a front camera with 5 to 8mp autofocus wider lens etc can be perfect cost cutting as well as flawless performance guarenteed. Samsung should also think of one plus, it gained success because of simple os good built and snd 821/835 so samsung should price A5 below one plus but including the bezel less display better camera from s7 dual sim super amoled display etc with a price tag close to 320€/400$/24000INR can make A5 a handy no nonsense enough powerful phone with good camera . This soec may not sound good for tech ruch guys but this is more than adequate for everyday users who need beautiful phones dust/water resistant and with above positives. If samsung goes with the unhealthy race of increasing screen size its not going to help.

Once again, A series has better usability than their flagships XD
e.g. no edge, and no horrible fingerprint sensor location.
It's as if they want people to buy their midrange phones over their flagship phones.

Hmmmmm,still can't transfer my photos from galaxies 5 phone to my pc ??????,nope had several cell phone brands ,galaxies only one my photos can't be downloaded to my pc ,next phone won't be Samsung !!!!!!!

For Samsung, not bad.
Rather go with the Moto X4 at this point.
Don't need the infinity giraffe display ratios.
IP68 water resistance, dual lens rear camera setup.

The XZ1 compact is just a smaller XZ1 that's why it's expensiver, the A series isn't a smaller S series.
Or we would compare S8 to XZ1 Compact and S8+ to XZ1.

Now they've increased the screen of A5 2018 because I'm sure this thing would be bigger than 5.2 inches. They should also increase the battery size to 3500mah at least.
