Sales will increase.
J5 and j7 always come at least 360 dollars here. J7 Pro is more than 500.

Just look at top and bottom bezels. Uuuuggghhhh!! They could have made them a little more thicker so that 50% screen could be covered.

They focus on the looks rather than having and efficient phone. I have Sony Xperia Z for 4.5 years and it's still fine.
The problem with Sony is their prices, but the are cheaper than Samsung and Apple for sure.

I actually still have my Xiaomi Mi 3. Had it since July 2014. Longest smartphone I ever kept. Camera is bad compared to my newer ones and battery life is only half SOT after updates. Also very little storage and needs Mi Suite which can't be recognized on Mac. It still is surprisingly very fast and fluid after nearly 3.5 years though.
Mi 3 copied the design from Nokia Lumia 920 which was an evolution from the N9/Lumia 800. I don't think any design has pleased everyone this year. Minus the headphone jack, there are many people who don't like glass rears, curved displays, taller screens, weird aspect ratios, a notch, vertical or horizontal camera humps, Pixel rears, and too much top and bottom bezels.
Every phone is UGLY to many people's eyes. I still think the glacial silver HTC One M7 is the most beautiful smartphone ever made and people now would say it has too much top and bottom bezel for a 4.7". Sony's problem isn't really design with those bezels. It's their pricing. They are the rich man's Motorola. They price it high when nobody is even interested in them except for their diehard fanboys.

However... do you ever get out? "Sex obsessed" couldn't be any further from the truth. Sadly, the exact opposite is the case! Society as a whole gets ever more and more obsessed with sick prudeness and chastity and similar disturbing stuff, and I'm not even living in the gross homeland of prudeness #1, the US, but in Europe, where it's not as bad. At least, not yet, but I fear the worst for the future. (Only in the Middle East, it's even worse than in the US, they force their women to wrap themselves up like mummies.)
Back on topic, the XZ1 is a fine device, but a little too small in size. I was already greatly tempted by the XA1 Ultra. I already had a Xperia before, it was pretty good. The gold XA1 Ultra looks really great (only the orange/pink from the XZ1 Compact would still be better). Great camera and features and all, but I eventually decided against it because of two things:
- no fingerprint reader, an absolute no-go for me.
- 6" and a tiny 2700 mAh battery? wtf were they thinking?
If they should release the XA2 Ultra with a fingerprint reader, and with at least a 4000 mAh battery, it would be an instant buy for me. The orange/pink from the XZ1 Compact would be the cherry on the icing, but the present Gold is fine, too. The bezels are fine, too. Only Sony manages to make them look classy. With the Pixel (2), the bezels are just beyond ugly.
About the new Mirai ("future") design that Sony has planned for next year: I doubt they'll just copy the general trend. They'll just carefully update the present OmniBalance, reduce the to and bottom bezels to half their size, and that's it. That will be fully sufficient. They won't do that horrible 18:9 either.

I won't look design and less important things. I will go for Sony. Their quality is great. My Z3 is two years old it works fine. Sony phones have most stable UI which don't know what lag is.

Go to a store and hold the XZ1 for yourself and you'll understand that the bezels don't matter so much. It's a very finely crafted device.

Anonymous, 08 Oct 2017All that aside, does the body of xz xzs n xz1 look any diff... moreI'm not always of the opinion that frequent radical changes in design are necessary, Sony obviously had a design language that they and their fans felt worked, and have now taken that as far as can be reasonably expected.
The M4 Aqua was a device that looked great on paper, but was terrible in practice. Camera, battery life and performance were all truly awful, I know because I bought one for my father a few years back. Recently swapped it to a Wilyfox Swift 2 for him, he thinks he's been radically upgraded....I haven't got the heart to tell him his new device cost over £100 less than what I paid for the Aqua. I also had a beaten up second hand Aqua myself, just a bad device all round.
Sony are doing good things in general with high end Xperia device's, but their low & mid range offerings are still difficult to recommend.

Sony was amazing until the m4 aqua came
After that evrything went downhill and prices started becoming ridiculous
