HOLY MOLY! This will most likely be my next phone! Have the K800i which I like a LOT. Although I'll probably get it about 6 months after release cause I'm poor and my contract finishes in March 08 :(

If the camera used in this phone is the same Sony camera as used in the Thai i-Mobile 902 then I can't wait for this phone to go on sale. Go and check out the review of the i-Mobile 902 here:
      http://www.mobile-review.com/review/imobile-902-en.shtml

Take note of the sample indoor lowlight photos! That should make the people doubting the progress from K750 shut up.

"Xenon flash for photos, 3 LEDs for video." That reminded me of the following Steve Wright joke:

One time the power went out in my house, I had no lights. Fortunately my camera had a flash. I went to make a peanut butter sandwich and took 60 pictures of my kitchen. My neighbors called the police. They thought it was lightning in my house.

Sony concentrates too much on camera functions. Missing WLAN, missing VGA video recording, missing Symbian OS... I expected this one to compete against Nokia N95 but obviously it can't. Although I think it will feature a better picture quality, as always.

Sony Ericsson do not seem to have moved on much after the K750i,o.k its cameras might be good but there designs do not seem to be modern enough, good job at last no more joystick, but the buttons on there handset do not seem easy to use for texting alately why?are they putting these stupid buttons on there mobiles an put alot of people buying there handsets,Sony Ericcson should by now have caught up with Nokia with Software on there handsets but Nokia shows them up easily,i will wait for a full review of this handset before i get this handset or get the New Nokia N82 thats soon being released by Nokia

this is not smart ph series. IT is called cybershot series. SO, u can't expect wifi or gd browser or watever application. SE photo quality is the best among phs, no doubt. and k series has got enough features for those who dun want symbian or window mobile.

hm I just don't see the progress since SE K750 era, only few minor innovations, few more specs - that's all SE? megapixels are not longer indicator for quality - 2 megapixels for such lenses are more than enough. At least should be integrate Wlan, Sat radio or other gadget intend to attract crowd.. Overpriced backward-looking phone :)

1st:I'm a die hard Sony Ericsson fanatic!Nice2 see Sony reach 5mp in a phone.I know the cam will rock!I feel that it should of had more features. You know what's missing! Also Sony Ericsson is a leader, but they're not showing it.Instead of catching up2 the N95 5mp,which we all know Sony's cam will be much much better. You should of gone further in pixels, say 6or7mp before Nokia reaches there!Stop following and start leading.I know you great, time to show your greatness!LEAD the market in features&camera pixels.

Its a shame i upgraded to the n95, id have rather have had this, the 5 mp cam is what ive been waiting for, although im willing to place a £1000 bet on the video quality not being as good as the n95.

I work in carphone warehouse and when this phone comes in im going to steal one, write it off in the audit and pretend nothing ever happened... either that or get a new contract ^_^

sony ericsson did not say or categorally mentioned that K850 can really record/capture videos in QVGA @ 30fps (320 x 240) yet. the link below clearly states that this particular model can do "video recording" but never said that the recording resolution to be like QVGA.

                            http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?cc=global&lc=en&ver=4001&template=pc3_1_1&zone=pc&lm=pc3_1&prid=8127

the official statements therein means that K850 can play videos with resolution of 320 x 240 (QVGA) @ 30 fps. let's wait for SE's further announcements..

                            notes from GSMarena:
Unfortunately there is no word on video capabilities - a department Sony Ericsson has been lagging behind other manufacturers for quite some time. Feature phones produced by SE are well known with their QCIF@15fps (176 x 144) video recording, while latest smartphones have reached only QVGA@15fps resolution.

320x240 QVGA @ 30 FPS is NOTHING to get exited about. How does the phone handle the most useful and practical 640x480 VGA resolution? Not very well is the answer.

what a suprise... most people think its a great phone, but there will always be a few saddo phone geeks moaning about how 'this phone is no good'. get a life... if you think you can do better, why dont you design, engineer, and manufacture your own handsets, because regardless of what SE, samsung, nokia, etc produce you are always going to have a moan and a cry about it...
do you ever look at those concept phone websites? where people make up handsets? i guess that is kinda like porn for some of you folks...

it seems good but what about the speakers as all the k series have good clarity but the voice is little bit less,if the voice is louder of this phone then no other phone can challenge sony's K 850.
