Seems to be the true successor to Redmi Note 3. Let's wait and watch.

18:9?? WTF, Xiaomi?? If it's real, then I'm getting Note 4 again.
      Regression at its best.

Please, SD630 or higher SD, B20, face recognition if the fingerprint is in the back, a good camera stabilization... and dreaming for a Plus version with 660, B20 and OIS. The Mi Note 3 aren't an option for us and we doubt it will have a real global B20 version in the future. Do it Xiaomi!

If Xiaomi STILL uses SD 62x variants (625, 626, 630, 450), then it'll flop, as the ads in the previous leaks said it'll be equipped with smaller battery capacity (3700-3800 mAh)...

If Xiaomi uses Helio P series to RN5, no matter what version, it'll be a HUGE FLOP, as NO ONE wants Helio P series SoC. At least, the new Helio X30 is the minimum.

If Xiaomi uses SD 660, it'll sell as much as Nokia smartphones, EVERYWHERE.
Why? Cuz ALL the devices using SD660 are priced around US$500 and more, that the battery reduction issue might be forgiven, if priced right.

My only hope is at least Xiaomi will make the basic variant with 3GB RAM & 32GB RAM, as 16GB RAM depleted in the blink of eye & 2GB RAM would bottle-necked the SD660

5.5" 18:9 screen would mean the phones overall size is pretty small. That would be equivalent to a 5" 16:9 screen in width. It definitely looks larger than that based on the pic of the person holding it. Also, a 4000mah battery would be tough to fit in a 5.5" 18:9 phone with such small bezels.

For Some Odd reason the back and the front of the phone look like they are shots of two different phones.

thank you xiaomi for being there...... in the race of ultra premium flagships of the money-sucker companies with their absurd high pricing :)
thank you xiaomi, thank you for existing

If RN5 runs SD660 it's going to be best mid-range phone and go to overtake RN3 sales.

Carla, 09 Oct 2017Release it with global version, B20, 630 or 660 and I will ... moreAnd with Oreo if possible. An A2 with stock android based on this would be amazing too. But it will come months later, I think. Too far for me, with B20, Oreo, 630 or 660 will be perfect with that look. And if I could choose, with under screen fingerprint or in a side button, not like in the image, haha too much hope.

But... too good to be real? One thing is sure, the release seems near and we'll see more leaks soon.

Okay, we know definitely that there will be a Xiaomi Redmi Note 5.
We know it will be a mid-ranger, priced very low, a large battery, a very decent screen, and have options for Global Rom and other LTE-Bands support (like Band 28).

                                      What we don't know is:
                                      - if it will have a 18:9 display
                                      - if it will have Dual-Cameras
                                      - which SoC it will have

I hope Xiaomi keeps the price consistent and does opt for a slim bezel design, even if that means using a 18:9 weird aspect ratio. I do hope they don't go overboard on the screen, as 2160 x 1080 resolution is fine for a 6 inch display. I also hope they don't go overboard on the dual-cameras. The well-balanced savings from these two areas can go to upgrade the SoC from a lowsy QSD 630/3GB/32GB unit to a very respectable QSD 660/4GB/64GB chipset.

The SoC does matter Xiaomi, remember how fabulous the Redmi Note 3 was??
And sticking with Qualcomm over MediaTek means Custom Roms are also available!!
