Samsung Galaxy S9 to get the entire first batch of Snapdragon 845 chips for its early launch

09 October 2017
If it pans out, this would be a repeat of the situation in 2017 with the S8 duo and the Snapdragon 835.

Anonymous, 11 Oct 2017This year it is iPhone 8 with expanded battery LOLMaybe but appart from quick discharge i mean it drains very fast there wasnt much problems with apple phones. Maybe price. But forests and animals dying but human stupidity is endless and they will always buy the most expensive things on the market even its china made.

Instead of downclocking the SD version, why not upclocking the Exynos one so the performance of SD version is around all other SD phones as well, while Exynos version might also enjoy performance bump? For battery life? Less heat?

If the snapdragon 845 is developed in 7nm it's not teaming up with Samsung to do it, but yes, another company. Well, it's just speculations.
I wonder how more powerfull will the 845 be comared to the 835.
Will it surpass the iphone 10000 geekbench 4 scores? hard to tell

I meant about having high end ones to give out to all manufacturers and not keep them for their premium phones only

Will Samsung downclock the SoC again? SD835 in S8(+) is clearly downclocked to match their Exynos counterpart performance.

And because they are always on reduction diet they wont last long.

And on that note the iphone is supposed to have superior memory too. And better optimized ram.
                  So keep making up excuses.

Note 8 has the same cpu and gpu. And it can't be faster, then even iphone 7.

Anonymous, 11 Oct 2017Benchmark although a good way to gauge the performance is n... moreGuys you need to learn distinguish speed test from actual benchmarks. Speed test test internal memory speeds and RAM managment it has nothing to do with chip speed. Games, browsing (especially scrolling), running two to apps simultaneously, or dealing with high bandwidth apps like Facebook pushes your CPU or GPU. Or video editing and so on. A11 does this all things twice or three times faster than any android phone. Any sd 625 phone can be fluent at speed test or just scrolling thru apps or your address book, but it does not mean it will be faster than 835 right?

Anonymous, 11 Oct 2017Benchmark although a good way to gauge the performance is n... moreNo, SD835 is not faster than A11. Thats a fact. And most likely neither will the SD845 be judging by the performance jumps from previous years.

Again there is alot more to it than just the CPU when opening simple applikations like you do in tests like PhoneBuff speedtest (which still is faster on the iPhone 8 in the first lap). The iPhone 8 is currently loosing some tests even against the iPhone 7 so Apple obviously has some work to do use the potential of the iPhone 8 but its not because the A11 it self is slower than the A10. And again look at CPU intensive tasks (image/videoediting, opening pdf) and the A11 just runs in circles around the SD835.

I would recommend listen to Gary over at Android Authority. He explains in a good way why Apple is so for ahead in this area. And he is obviously not an Apple fanboy :)
                        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TiVF_ZzzLM0

With that said is a really powerful CPU needed for most people? No, SoCs are so fast now that a midrange SoC is probably good enough for the big majority :)

They are not very CPU demanding applications, other thing will matter. But the more you push it the bigger the difference get like Toms Guides test show:
                                    https://www.tomsguide.com/us/iphone-8-benchmarks-fastest-phone,review-4676.html

Even if its not needed for the simple everyday applikations is nice to have the power there for things like AR and other more demanding application in my opinion.
