People can test and harden over a course of a year and may be, charge $5 for each release that supports a new hardware. Else the stupid people will end up closing their company in a single year.

Android is free because it got it's money from ad.. Think before you speak..

On Sailfish website, it clearly states that Sailfish OS is free, and the 50 euros you are paying for is for support of the Sailfish program. This then, is completely stupid. You can only support them in EU... lol

The SailfishOS is free, community have built an image and you can flash your Xperia with it just fine. The $49 is not for the OS itself but licensing software including Microsoft exchange support, etc....
It's just an alternative Linux OS that does not spy on its users.

Although l don't see anyone paying 50€ for a mobile OS, l have to admit that - at least what is shown in this video - sailfish OS looks pretty neat.

They are asking money for low level OS that can get abandoned anytime and will ruin your perfectly capable xperia they must be dreaming why will some one choose this over android which is free and miles ahead of this, they better pay you money to use this or atleast give it for free even then it might not become a big OS like android and iOS

It's good to launch a self OS for Sony but:
1- Why is not free such as Android
2- How I can trust for a new Selfish OS
3- Why I need to promote to Selfish OS, I am happy for Android
4- Do attractive promotion like it's free for who purchase the Sony device in 2017 & 2018
5- No info about the Selfish OS
6- No Ads about the Selfish OS
some commentators said Sony Wake Up, me too I say Wake up Sony I will change to another device...................................????????????????

They love open-source, but won't support Linux-based OSes flashing out of the box....this made my day.
