So Pixel 2 is more expensive and doesn't come with lifetime "original photo upload". Google is charging more for less.

Oreo ruined battery life while tethering it. Maybe about 15% worse which is a big deal to a driver like me. I made my LG G5 my main Wi-Fi hotspot last week. I did 14 DoorDash deliveries and it still had 25% battery left. My Pixel with Oreo would be lucky to get 10 deliveries before it dies on me completely.
Og Pixels are still great phones. Most fluid Android UI experience ever. That's why I got one seven months ago knowing Pixel 2 will lose headphone jack. But stock Android and updating software is kinda overrated. Add the fact my Pixel couldn't be recognized on my MacBook Air using Android File Transfer. The iPhone X has similar dimensions to the smaller Pixel but with a 0.8" bigger display.
I will stick to LG. Last year's LG flagships offers me three key features - matte rear, removable battery, IR blaster.
I would rather get the silver iPhone X over the og Pixel but still hate glass rears and how bad iOS11 still is. Silver X definitely hides fingerprints better than the space gray one as seen with the iPhone 8 duo and like the silver chrome edges. I will get another Pixel again but wait for Gen 3, 4, or 5 when they change the design and refine it better. First two generations is mostly trial and error.

You should try Google Photos. Very easy to back them up but you need Internet. I stopped using the app QuickPic because of it. I also stopped buying microSD cards and storing any videos and photos on my phones because of it.
By the 2020's, we will be connected all the time so no real need for physical storage anymore. Add the fact people also just stream stuff off Netflix or any music streaming service. Cloud is the future. But have backups all the time. Never depend on just one. And never store private photos on the cloud as seen from the iCloud hacking.

Nice, but for now long you will keep your pixel just to save photos on the cloud? Pretty much useless function, just back up to your PC and keep it save, no need to worry about some stupid clouds

Anything you post on their system anywhere, whether docs, photos, whatever, becomes their property to use as they see fit. There is nothing "free" when using Google software.
