The first time I left Symbian and used Android, I was shocked that it was tracking locations and identifying them as my "home" and my "work", without my permission (apart from an agreement that I never read, on starting the phone) even though I never clicked on "GPS".
I knew Google well before that, but for the first time, I knew a lot was going to be compromised. Never felt safe since then.
Today, my question is, Google has your data, right?
So, how different is Oneplus collecting data, from Google collecting data? Size of these 2 organisations, right? or Country of origin?
And I'm still waiting for the assurance against NSA spying because I'm a law abiding guy.
Honestly, to me it doesn't matter today.
If I was a rich guy like Mark Zuckerberg, I would still use my Nokia 808 and create a trend. But, I'm a middle class guy who has to create presentations, respond to emails, etc. So, no choice honestly.

That OnePlus guy lies all the time. He say OnePlus 1 was smaller than SONY Z or something and have magnesium frame and both were fake. That's even before the first phone went on sale and he lied.

More importantly, he confirmed that the company will no longer be collecting information such as telephone numbers, MAC Addresses, and WiFi information
Like anybody is gonna believe that now after what has been found about OnePlus! This is what happens when people compromise on prices for so called flagship material and find that they are being cheated on benchmark scores too!

Thought it doesn't affect me directly, it does concern me. I don't use credit cards on my phone, but imagine how many people do. Then think about the consequences if that data is seen by other people with bad intentions.
Also there are people that work in high security departments. Maybe our photos and documents are not that important, but statistically speaking there are people out there that have very important data on their phones.

They only acknowledge & address the issue, when someone finds it out. And now they give us options to turn it off, as if they never know it before just to avoid a huge PR disaster....

ONEPLUS chinese data collection -not stopped yet ..data collected incluses all contacts all calls all photos all messages all texts ..beware !! small print is a CON ..policians wonna destroy all humans opposed to political rulers ..hence abuse misuse of state security services ..dont forget what one powerful prez said --if u r not with us ==u r against us -- ==to be destroyed ..

However we know on the Internet sites are tracking. End user has no idea which site and for how long and how much data they have.

Look I don't own a Oneplus, but I might consider buying Oneplus device since they are going to revert collecting private data. Like the titles says "don't judge a book by it's cover" many of current Oneplus owners are disappointed with Oneplus stealing customer data like some kind of betrayal, where most non Oneplus owners perspective might be relieved with this news because it gives us an insight what direction the company goes and regret it's mistakes and tries to rectify the situation, like all brands do. So this isn't of a big deal unless you have privacy issues.
