HTC Desire will not be updated to Gingerbread

Bad news HTC Desire owners, HTC has just announced it won’t update the original Desire with Android 2.3 Gingerbread due to insufficient memory. You are now stuck with Froyo forever. Ok, this forever thing...

This has been only done to increase the sale of Desire S. Since the price of Desire had gone down people would have gone for original desire too.
