Google sure made shit in the name of branding

Similar to my nexus5. Though it didn't bend at all and do some damage, I could see a small crack at the frame around the simcard slot. I guess this could be the reason why Samsung's implementations are on top of the phone.

Man, that was brutal. I kind of regret watching it.

I don't really agree that the Pixel 2 lags behind other phones.

He mentions no second camera, but to me the whole dual camera thing is a pure gimmick, used as an excuse for not making real improvements to phone cameras (like larger sensors). On the other hand, the Pixel 2 has OIS + EIS operating together in video. That's a first and Google's EIS already is better than any other phone. And generally the Pixel 2 has a camera that's as good as if not better than any other phone.

On top of that, Google has brought back dual front facing speakers. Even HTC (who invented it) doesn't have that anymore in the U11.

So I'd say, from a hardware perspective, the Pixel 2 has the features that count and skipped the gimmicks.

And really that is very much in keeping with the Nexus/Pixel line. They have never been the phones that have all the latest features (except the Nexus One). Instead, Google has focused on pushing a few things forward and not trying to compete on every front.

In the end, this is what I like about these devices. They are focus on being straightforward and functional and skip the gimmicks.

My only real criticism is that the Pixel 2 drops the 3.5 mm jack.

Pay that kinda money and the durability lacks in comparison to devices in the same class, even if these tests are on the extreme side, your not getting the quality you are paying for. Also, I agree with Zack in saying the pixel should have been fully plastic instead of the thick paint being susceptible to light staining and chipping.

FrostPE, 20 Oct 2017What do You expect from device made by HTC? :-) Fail of course.Men, this years smaller Pixel is made by LG not HTC...

i love LG but is not LG fault, because Google design the thing and choose the materials, LG only do the job Google order.

Like anyone is going to subject their $800 phone to that sh*t! As much as these tests are putting pressure on manufacturers to do better, it’s quite silly for one to cancel their order because a fingerprint reader failed after being tortured. Would you survive that kind of torturing? How much do you cost? Lol

Google needs to step up their game in quality if they want to compete at that prices.

Anonymous, 20 Oct 2017Unfortunately it fails the bend test. So did the HTC U11 so... morePixel phone design are by Google. HTC only assemble them (AFAIK).

So Google design team need to think about it.

The bent test is so devastating for Google. They should know better not to put the antenna line there. Better luck next year Mr Google. :))
