TENAA spilled the beans on a new Xiaomi phone. Likely the Redmi Note 5

21 October 2017
The reported 18:9 aspect ration definitely hints at the eagerly anticipated Redmi Note 5, only minus a second main camera.

Anonymous, 22 Oct 2017Again the idiotic aspect ratio...Wholeheartedly agree.
16:9 was standardized for a reason. 18:9 would be letterboxing all the time, and would lack height compared to same screen size as 16:9.
Really quite dumb move, but then, all of mobile phone market are prone to making really bad decisions (hint hint, starting from no miniHDMI, no 2nd USB, no audio socket, no removable battery, hybrid sim slot, glass back, ......). What use is razor sharp thin phone without audio socket?

          And that's why we're getting 18:9 or 6:3.

Why don't manufacturers trying to make the phone smaller and more compact instead of making the screen bigger? For God's sake

well, all SD835 has integrated BT 5.0 but some of those phones are still listed as BT 4.2 because Nougat only support BT 4.2 officially. So, it's still possible that this phone use SD 630/660 SoC

I think this is the Redmi 5 plus and not redmi note 5 as it was leaked earlier. Redmi 5 plus will probably feature a Snapdragon 450 and not the 6xx series.
