Man I still remember when we used to use tokens in NYC buses and trains lol

AnonD-558092, 24 Oct 2017I see. The QR code way is the same but you scan the QR code... moreNY has Hybrid buses but not all of them.
NJ Transit is not a part of NY. So, they don't have one unified card you can use for both.

The QR code way is the same but you scan the QR code in the bus, which will activate your "courtesey pass" (if you need to change lines within an hour and a half) and confirm the purchase automatically to the driver.

But wait, there are bus lines that are more expensive? In the same network? Weird (every lines, no matter the equipment or length, is 3,25$ CAD, except the Downtown line which is free). At least tell me that there is some kind of unified, unlimited fare that works in inter-regional networks, like you pay X per month and you can use one card to go on NJ Transit, MTA and others in the area. That's how it works here.
The RTM handles those fares, which increases depending on your "zone". Zone 1 is downtown Montreal, and Zone 8 is ST-Jérome, somewhat far. These titles are called OPUS TRAM, because it grants you TRain, Autobus and Metro access anywhere within the area. These are monthly, unlimited pass .

Im just very curious about other cities' public transit systems. Do they also have hybrid/electric buses? Since 2014, the STL only buys hybrid, and since 2016 they buy only with A/C. STM too, and they have two electric buses on a line full time. RTL has only hybrids.

The TC scans the code on your phone. It's required as the fare is not flat while the Subway fare is flat and it can be charged at the entrance.

Can't wait for this. One less thing to worry about and probably will never have to see a train leaving while I am refilling my metro card.

In the meantime the STL has been accepting paying with credit card (including PayPass) and is now testing QR code pay, for a while now. It works with S Pay.
