They can´t hold their profit rates, also the market is totally saturated. So they have to increase their prices. Since many years most manufacturers also only build parts together, there´s no real R&D anymore. With Android they even can use a ready OS. But that´s only dumb capitalism so there´s nothing different to expect.

If they had more self-respect, the rest of us who do, would be able to buy less crippled or/and less expensive phones (And other stuff).

Everytime i see it, I am reminded of something my dad used to tell me, "say nothing about what others buys, unless you are footing the bill."

AnonD-234961, 24 Oct 2017Looks like people from developed countries are smart and do... moreLOL, sorry, but common sense would disagree. Poor countries don't make enough difference, so if they raise prices (And compromises. Getting rid of 3.5mm jacks and whatnot), it's because western people (Well, China too. Not exactly a poor country. Maybe India is the only exception).

Looks like people from developed countries are smart and do not buy overpriced phones, while the poor people from the Latin America and Eastern Europe are eager to show their status and buy expensive carrier plans with subsidized flagship phones.
