      Boring ! Full stop.

Samsung is not really INNOVATIVE and CREATIVE as they claim to be.

All their strategy is, look whats on the competition, copy it, make it thinner and call it a different name.

COPYING isnt Innovative and Creative at all. Theres no doubt their products are selling, but when Samsung says its innovation and creativity.... its TIHSLLUB.

                  Cain,
Apart from being the thinnest bar/clamsheell/slider phones, here are some milestones that samsung achieved.
Samsung A300 – first clamshell sporting an external display
Samsung A400 – first clamshell for women
Samsung T100 – first clamshell with internal color display
Samsung T200 – first clamshell with automatic opening/closing mechanism
Samsung S300 – first clamshell with two color displays
Its a fact that its Samsung that helped grow that form-factor. Today its became standard to have two color displays along with external music control buttons for a clamshell.
Motorolla inveted it but its Samsung that gave the usefull touches. Credit should be given to moto marketing strategy to revolutionize the thin phone segment.
But then they stopped and never made another phone thinner than the original Razr. They tried their hands with ROKR, then KRZR and now RIZR...nothing happend. Miracle doesn't happen often.
So they are resuffling their management team and tieing up with kodak and others for better features. Good luck moto.
iPhone is in the limelight now. And you should be knowing its powerd by samsung.

Samsung was first to put 5,7,8 and 10mp camera in a phone
Samsung V5400 – first hard drive cell phone, 1.5gb
Samaung i310x – first 4gb micridrive cell phone then i310- 8gb microdrive cell phone

They are the first one to showcase 1.8mbps, 3.6mbps and now with F700 7.2mbps HSDPA
Samsung Z560 – first phone with tuch sensitive buttons (It was anounced a month before LG came up with Chocolate)
Samsung F300 – first dual display bar phone
Samsung E950 – first slider with two display screens, Im sure others will follow. Just that they will take some time to avoid being called copycat.

Seimens might have invented it, but today its Samsung that is in commanding position over the slider phone market.
Being in number 1 or 2 doesnt matter here, as majority of their sell comes from low end phones designed for China-India-Africa in mind.

I'm looking forward to testing these phones. They are really interesting, especially the E950. The feature mentioned are cool. I was just disappointed with the display, the pixels aren't that good enough yet for an LCD display. I mean, other phones like Nokia already feature screens that has 240x320 resolution, and Samsung is still far away from it. That's all, keep up the good work Samsung!

Now, I really have enough common sense not to get involved in fanboy flaming wars :) So when they start it is usually time to end any discussion. Silly arguments lead to nowhere. And I will refer to my original point. It is not in doubt that Samsung is doing OK right now. What bothers me is fanboys trying to rewrite history, grabing credit where it is not due. Apple is trying to the the very same thing with iPhone, touting it as a first multimedia device whics has music, video, and some smartphone functions. While all true smartphones could do that ages ago. Most of them still better then iPhone. Now taking credit for inventing names and colours is just plain funny :) Btw. I am pretty sure Moto had black CD930 and V3688 (the first flip-folder-clam phone in the world) long before Samsung even existed in mobile phone world. Now, I will repeat myself, and say that is quite reasonable to like Samsung for its strong points and be proud of it. Just don't make up stuff :)

samsung did not copy the razr design infact it was moto that copied samsung on that as samsung made a super slim phone over 6 years ago measuring around 5mm thin but didnt make the european market as there was not enough demand 4 it over here. moto may have invented the flip phone but it didnt go anywhere untill samusng started to make flip phones and branded them the clamshell phone they also made the slider startin with the popular D500 which sold out within minutes of release they made that phone black which is a main reason why people bought it, SOOO , moto and nokia and sony erricson all again copied samsung in making black phones take the razr for instance that was orignally in silver untill samsung released the D500 then just 3 months after moto re;leased it in black after they saw the popularity with the D500. ever since then they been making black phones copying off of samsung coz they cant come up with somethins them selves . samsung are overtaking moto again to become the second biggest mobile phone manufacturer and will soon overtake nokia as they are loosing there loyal customers to samsung as they continue to make big bulky heavy phones hahaha lol and thats it for today ppl lol xx

Don't worry about spelling, I'm not picky. Even if you got my name wrong :) I also don't pay much attention to "what is something called like". Believe me, in my country they are called in a very different way :) I'm not trying to bash Samsung, they do really nice in evolution of everything. But that's just it, they don't do revolution. They are always waiting for something successful so they can copy, and "improve" it. And that is what I dislike about them. You say it is important who runs the show now. But I don't see Samsung running anything now. Yes they have high sales. But they are still not creating anything. All their efforts go into making a thinner mobile then Moto, better camera then SE, and uglier phone then Nokia. And that proves MY point. If they still try to copy others, then they are by no means leaders in any way. Except in a market shares race perhaps, but that should not concern any of us. I would really like to see all that effort go into a revolutionary new product that we could all say it is invented by Samsung. I have named several of the most important inovations in the mobile world. You said Samsung also has a lot, but I failed to name them. I would really like to know what they are. I'm not being sarcastic, I would really like to know, and I appologize in advance if I am being ignorant. Just remember, I am talking about revolution here, not evolution.

                              @cian

Yes moto/ericcson/Siemens invented..and they get their due credit time to time. What really matters is who is carrying it on. There are many others that Samsung has invented and you dont even know those to mention.
If there is a company that really pushed with a wide range of calmshell in the begining..its samsung. Now they are doing the same with slider... and by the way I wonder why you mentioned "calmshell"..do you know, that's the term that samsung and LG promoted? Moto calls it "Flip phone"..nokia calls it "Folder phone". Today that form factor is known as "Calmshell". That proves what I mean.

Industry prediction is by 2010 there would be only 5 major brand. That means one of the six has to go. Do you know that its LG and Moto who are suspecting each other. Time will say. Cheers!!

Oh, sorry if you misunderstood me. I wasn't reffering to that part of your post. Nor to your post alone. I was speaking in general. Samsung fans are boasting with innovation and design, and that's the one thing they can not bring up. Samsung may have its bussines going very well right now. Good strategy, marketing policy, etc. Anyway, I am pro-variety. And I like to see many large makers unload all sorts of different phones so we can have more to choose from. And I don't think market shares will convince me that some particular phone is good for me. Nokia is number one, and they still produce mainly plastic toy phones. Do you think they are the best and we should all go and exchange our phones for Nokias just because they are the largest maker ?

Heh heh, Samesong fans like design and innovation :D I know you firmly believe Samsung invented the mobile phone (Moto), and made the first slider design (Siemens), and first clamshell (Moto), and colour screen (Ericsson), camera (Ericcson), thin phone (Moto), etc. But the truth is Samsung only copies (with more or less success) whatever enters the market. So you are, of course, right if you like Samsung phones for some particular reason. Just don't boast and brag with stuff that is not true.

motorola is losing its market to samsung!Samsung is now taking the second place from motorola! Motorola's success is only the RAZR crap phone and that's it! they cannot even come up with a new one that is stylish and fully functional AND they cannot even come up with a 5 mega pixel phone bwahaha!. i love samsung because of their design and slim factor and innovation. so in my conclusion motorola is a big big fat LOSER!
