Like paying royalties to ARM, or wifi, BT, even to Microsoft!
I can build wherever i want by just paying the license, so what stops Apple for doing it?

Hint: this isn't some square with round corners kind of thing (aka Apple patent to stop Samsung sales), this goes all the way to how the waveform is modulated in the radio-electrical media.

I really hope Apple are punished heavily for this, this company is destroying the technology industry, the sooner Apple disappear off the face of the earth, the better!
But i suspect Apple will highly likely use their financial influence over the judges as they have probably done before on cases they have been successful in.

Apple is notorious for acting like that, using stolen ideas to sue Samsung, for instance. Can you reference what company used Qualcomm's solutions before them?

If they had patents for ALL OF THESE MODEMS, nobody could make one at all. And guess what? Intel, Broadcom, MTK, Samsung, etc., can make modem and have been doing it for a long time...

Anonymous, 03 Nov 2017Just give up Qualcomm. Look at your Q3 earnings and give up... moreDo you honestly believe that other phone manufacturers will deal with Apple given all their lawsuits and bad faith business practices against them?
If you know anyone working at Samsung, ask them.

I thought only China phone manufacturers are 'stealing', I'm surprised American company are doing so.
So much for Apple's innovation and rubbish. I hope iPhone will be barred from selling in China until they'll cleared their name.
No iPhone no problem. Huawei, Honor, Oppo, Vivo, Oneplus, Xiaomi, ZTE-Nubia are here for us.

Intel: What is QC's secret for making so much money?
Apple: Overprice everything.
Intel: Oooh now I get it!
Qualcomm: HEY! That was a secret!

Apple can beat smaller ones(even then, they have lost few cases against smaller ones) but big companies like Samsung fought successfully against Apple, even if the cases fail, they prevailed with much success. Letigation rout was agressively pursued by Apple to keep them moving forward at the cost of small but innovative ones this will come back and hit them as well. They may be the richest company like other ones few years or decades back, but it is just matter of one more technological innovation replace them with another. It can happen sooner or later

Qualcomm became upset they started to use Intel modems, everything else it's just charade to find excuses for Qualcomm to punish apple, and for apple just to get rid off of pissed supplier, obviously Intel maybe charges cheaper, so qualcomm maybe not needed anymore, simple business games :)

What trade secrets? They're probably referring to all the ideas they've stolen from other companies and then patented to claim it's theirs.
