HTC U11+ almost became the Pixel 2 XL

A sudden change of heart from Google brought LG on board to build a Pixel 2 XL half-way through development. We revisit a few reports throughout the year.

        Now I can imagine how Google regrets for this decision. Crappy LG quality already ruined Pixel brand reputation. Worst screen from any flagship and bunch of other issues. Typical LG.

          Greetings to the real Pixel 2 XL.

          People give HTC a lot of grief, but I think their designs are quality are much better than other Android companies. They've been at this longer than anyone, even Samsung. They made the first Android phone, the HTC Dream (also known as the G1). They made the first Nexus device. The pioneered most of the design ideas that others copy and don't give HTC credit for (like the first aluminum unibody phone: the Nexus One).

          Maybe HTC isn't as exciting and sexy as other companies. Maybe they've had financial trouble. But they know their hardware.

          LG has always had mediocre quality. Google just blew it.

            OLED is better than most LCDs. But it requires more stringent quality control. Samsung is very good at that, since they have been doing it since the beginning. LG's OLED experience was few and far between. That is the problem.

            Going for the HTC Muskie would have been a better choice. It would have relieved Google of many headaches. I am not belittling LG here of course.

                      But...but... HTC design is sucks!

                        I bet if Pixel 2 XL was made by HTC, HTC might use OLED by Samsung instead of LG. Just like the original Pixel, Pixel XL and Pixel 2.

                        LG P-OLED sucks, hope they improve it next year.

                          Should have gone with HTC. As I always say, LCD>AMOLED. Amoled has many issues
