How far has Apple fallen. You need a 4 min+ video to teach people how to use an iPhone? So much for intuitive user interface. 1 min will do for all the iPhones before this iPhone X.

Anonymous, 05 Nov 2017Soooo...for some reason you have to unlock your precious ov... moreFirst I'm not going to buy this phone, I will wait for this feature to come to androids so that it can be truly useful. Secondly unlock is only its first use , if it's proven to be successful it will be used for navigation which is a million times more interesting and useful.

Third (to your question) the answer is yes, you'd have to look at your phone to unlock it while driving, but guess what, it won't. Like increasingly more modern phones, it won't unlock while driving. It's a feature that both Pixel and IOS 11 has put in because of the mass of accidents related to cell phone use. It's a safety feature that is going to be copied by everyone eventually, many/most states are looking to enforce it coming 2018 , it has been shown to minimize traffic accidents by a great amount.

In other words -while driving- if you want to use your phone, you don't. Instead you find some place to stop and *then* you use it. Nifty, huh?

I hate how apple tries to bind users to their eco system with stuff like the animojis. And the try to make them SUCH A BIG THING,I mean- come on,those are smileys! Hey apple, want my attention? Then do useful stuff like open up your interfaces so people can customize their OS for their specific needs, with addons, extensions, power user options, so we are not stuck to YOUR perfect idea of how the OS should be arranged.

Anonymous, 04 Nov 2017iPhone X Is cool enough but I have a feeling this should be... moreThis *is* a paradigm shift. It introduces the 5th generation of human-computer interaction: sight. (historical order: punch cards -> keyboard -> mouse -> touch -> sight)

It couldn't be released in 2015, the tech was not there. Actually it's early. Apple's SoC that enables "sight-navigation" is straight from 2019 (Qualcomm needs at least two years to catch up in raw performance). The miniaturized kinect also came just 7 years after the original from Microsoft .

Back in 2007 I wasn't here, but I *bet* people bashed equally the original iphone that basically forced touch as the 4th paradigm (and yes, I know, it was not the first but it was the first to mass market it). Now people don't see the significane of this release once again ... why am I not surprised?

I'm an android user and I'm excited because this type of user interaction *will* come over to android and become better. A bit of how touch based phones started with iphone , but got a million times better on android.

Y'all should be excited as well if you were not so much blind-sided by being fans of one company or another (as if those companies care for you).

And NO! The next gen is not foldable, is not bezeless, is not nothing such ... those are merely phone forms. They come second, they don't matter. First and the only thing that makes the generations is user-machine interaction.

Sight! That's the greatest feature since capacity touch in 2006. It will change everything! Think about it: those cameras know where you're looking at. Now look at a certain place of your phone and merely blink ... you just pressed OK. The system cannot be abused because it can only controlled by your face. It cannot take random hits either because the eyes naturally wonder when they do not focus on a particular object.

A million times faster than touch, much more accurate and no hands or physical buttons are needed. That's the future and iphone X is the first of that kind.

In a few years you'd be eating your words y'all ... you know nothing!

I hope this tech comes to android. Then every phone or tablet would be "one-handed" no matter how big. Here's the future folks.

The swipe makes it a total useless phone. They could easily spend a little and implement an under display always on 3d touch home button like Samsung did in S8. It's very useful while playing games, watching videos, using gallery and just any app. It also makes unlocking same as having an understanding display fingerprint sensor if used with iris or face scanner.

Clearly plenty of us can afford it, seeing that many people can afford a $900 Note8. They just don't want to waste their money on an inferior product with specs and features from a 2014 Android phone.

So wrong, all what you have to do is raise your phone a little bit and swipe up. You don't need to wait unlock icon. Just swipe up when you raise your phone and it's already in.
