New update lets you fully disable the Bixby button on your Samsung phone

Previously if you disabled the key it would still wake up your device.

      1. Most people buy flagships for pure horsepower- speed and performance. Such active features work against the performance, RAM and battery life.
      Plus valuable storage from your internal storage is also occupied.
      2. Bixby & such often work as a backdoor to send our data (like our voice, words used,) using our own internet to Samsung, for whatever (training, R&D, improvement, etc.) reasons.
      Some feel its a violation of their privacy.

      Make this Bixby self sufficient, internet-independent, make it removable, launch it on play store and then tell me who's actually complaining and I'll talk to him...!

          I don't really get the hate of Bixby.

          If it can help me set an alarm or alert it's good. Albeit limited but good enough. I meant it's not intrusive unless pressed right?

          No I don't have Note 8....

            I suggest using bxActions instead. I've been using it for past 2 months and it works perfectly.
            It lets you remap bixby and volume buttons so they do whatever you want basically. I personally use bixby to switch between last 2 apps, double press to toggle rotation and long press to turn of flashlight.

              Disable bixby button, but enable hold and talk to bixby. You can hold and tell bixby to open the camera. 2-3 secs it opens up camera. you can even tell bixby to take a photo after opening the camera.

                You wanna know how appreciated Bixby is Samsung ? How liked it is ? Let people remap the darn button ! Use it as they see fit. That would also be a goodwill sign and respect for your customers. They payed top dollar for these phones after all. And once you've done that, you'll see how efficient and smart you've allocate your resources developing Bixby. Anyway, in the end, it's your money. But the button it's OURS ! We paid for it ! So...

                  So instead of letting us remap the button they decided to kill it if not being used as Bixby Launcher. Way to go Samsung!

                    Well, they could just enable it again. No? .. Samsung have missed the boat in my opinion, those once potential 'Bixby' users have already sailed..... they have gone! ..... made up their minds... moved on.

                      Samsung: Allow that bixby button to launch the camera.
                      While Hitting two times the power button to launch the camera, sometimes by mistake you hit 3, and an emergency message is sent... please allow bixby button to launch the camera!!!

                        I know most people seem to be against Bixby, but hear me out just for a moment.

                        I have to ask. What if you later change your mind later on especially if Samsung develop Bixby much further and it becomes useful and brings new extra features that you may want, but can't access because you have disabled it?

                        You might just regret permanently disabling that key or Bixby. I would suggest that you leave it be and wait and see if they bring something new to Bixby or offer new functionality to the button.

                          I like having both Bixby and Google assistant on my note 8.
                          I've never understood the hate people have over the Bixby button.

                            Some much fuss for nothing, I don't remember when did I press it evidently it is far away from volume buttons, a lot of people are just well not smart enough

                              it would be better if we could map that stupid Bixby away! hmmm lets say for google assistant!!!

                                So much trouble, just because of Bixby(or samsung). HTC with their squeeze feature handled it better, let the users more freedom with more choices.

                                      Would be interesting to know how many people actually use it. What percentage? My guess is it would not be as as high as Samsung hoped. I think the late release hasn't helped.

                                        This is ridiculous ! How stupidly can that be from Samsung to just issue a software fix to disable a hardware physical button, and not let you at least remap it with whatever app you want ?! I mean IT'S THERE, ISN'T IT ?! It's wether pain in the but Bixby, OR NOTHING! This is vanity ! Right ?! Pure and childish vanity ! For God sake, what good is a button that does nothing ??? On a 950$ device ! Really Samsung ?
