AnonD-702955, 15 Nov 2017What would you recommend? on a 400 - 500 USD/Euro budget i would go with the xiaomi mi6 or the oneplus 5(T) - ok the oneplus is a bit more then 400 bugs.
as an alternative you could try to get a good deal on ebay for the samsung galaxy S8 or the Sony XZ1 Compact.
for me xiaomi is the upcoing android champion for a smaller budget (400 USD/Euros is still salty)

AnonD-702955, 13 Nov 2017It's next Monday did they drop the price yet lol you got me there bro :-)
when I read the first time about the phone I was thinking that this was a high risk operation. not just for the company but also for potential clients. today I would not bet 400 USD on a brand that might not exist anymore by - lets say - march 2018. no updates, no warrenty, no spare parts = no fun, no future.
I was a fan of the project but we got to a point where I am saying that almost every major brand is a better coice than essential is. and for 400 USD you can buy pretty good 835 snapdragon phones these days. you should go with one of these.

Island nation like England and Japan also have their fair share of rain.

Besides, I can't believe you/others are already falling for this "TARGET" hype. This phone won't do shit more than others... I repeat, won't play SHIT(games) more than others.

When a lady colleague of mine wanted to change from using a buttoned cell phone to a smartphone, she don't play games, just for calls and smses, whatsapp and abit of browsing. Then I recommended her a Snapdragon 400 series smartphone LG stylus 2 and she is happy with it after almost 1 yr+. Seriously I don't understand why we need such overpriced high end phone, for mobile gaming?

Sales must be horrendous....and for good reason...no 3.5mm, stupid notch, overpriced at launch, buggy, ect. I think this phone will level off at 350 so the company has the sales volume to stay afloat long enough to release v2 for $500 next year.

Are ... moreAnd why exactly should people pay more for something they must throw away after 2 years of use because they have no option to prolong its lifetime? 2017 or not but i will never ever buy a phone with sealed battery. When there are no smartphones left with removable battery i will downgrade to feature phone without hesitation.
Right now i am using my Nokia 808 and MS Lumia 950XL (both have removable battery) and i am happy.

Trump Fan 1980, 06 Nov 2017 Are you gonna get one (?) :-) .Nope. I'm an analog audio guy. Also I hate the notch. And with those poor sales, the device could get unsupported early or the company could get bought and the device forgotten.

What did I say, for Christmas you can expect around 200. It could be best speced phone for lowest price, that would definitely be worth of its name :)

NoToBrandLoyalty, 06 Nov 2017Still overpriced considering it lacks the ESSENTIAL feature... moreWhen a person walks into a store they really are in the hands of the salesperson, I really think that it a very small % under 5% that know the full specs of their phone
Some of the comments are ill-informed despite being here so https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=8710&idPhone2=8720
If you're Google and have a name behind you, if not it is unlikely that the handset will be in store also
$440 is the difference, marketing cost, advertising practices could be a reason why, but one phone is almost twice the cost of the other
