WAIT A MINUTE...
DisplayMate’s test results of Note8’s display said it has maximum brightness levels of 1200 nits (which they said is a record on a smartphone). Here’s link to DisplayMate’s article: http://www.displaymate.com/Galaxy_Note8_ShootOut_100.htm
But the article here says iPhone X ( 634 nits) has higher brightness levels than Note8.
What the what...??
Can anyone explain what’s going on here?

This hype reminds me of DXOmark. They kept on praising a newly release phone, more likely, they paid his consultancy work.
It can be slightly brighter and accurate, but a Note8 or S8+ displays are a lot larger.

The Apple display is just marvellous any day, they do the work for being the best in the world and most of the times they succeed. Even with IPS LCD they had made the best possible @ that time, now it isn't different. Samsung also makes quite amazing display but the consistency of Apple is hyper impressive , Samsung has nowadays turned out to be a brand more than being the real performer. The flagships of Samsung are phenomenal but the lower models are utter waste of technology. Apple again has the advantage even the iPhone 7 is as good as s8 or the upcoming s9, it's smoothest and most polished than any smartphone on market and hence they charge a premium for their phones. If Samsung follows the same quality threshold for all their devices and they boast then it would be worth praising Samsung, otherwise I feel it's just building the devices to lure people to buy Flagships alone.
