I'd rather watch them letterboxed though. I mean, the content is rectangular. It's no fun to watch it obstructed by rounded corner and all... :(

Yup... Ugly af. I wanted to be the very first to try iPhone X. for work porouses. but the notch ruins it real bad. Glad I chose i8.

Lastly I think they do it so that all apps would be written for a 19.5:9 instead of a smaller one. Once that is done they can release an upgrade to iphone that puts all the sensors underglass without the need to rewrite the software.
Since OLED is self illuminating you can do that, you simply grow dim said part of the screen while you want to use either the sensors or the camera (said part of the screen is already dim while unlocking and having a slightly smaller screen for selfies/video chatting is no big deal...
