The S8 has been getting price drops around the world.
I saw a steal-deal for it back in July for €600.
A OnePlus 5 at €500 cannot compete with the S8 at €600, it will lose.
So a OnePlus 5t at €500 will fare worse, as it means the S8 deals become commonplace.
Not to mention there are other devices like the S7 and the LG G6.
And soon enough (Feb '18), the LG V30 will get price drops and compete in that same price segment. I just can't see OnePlus succeeding with their current strategy: use previous hype, increase price, under-deliver on the product. They aren't Apple.

With price factor,they are trying to divert the attention away from personal security breach issue.
And this will definitely work in India at least, where price tag comes before anything else ( in most of the cases)
