AnonD-668972, 14 Nov 2017I wonder who still uses gingerbread when at least marshmall... moreI guess the reason why people are still using Gingerbread is that they are still using their old phones as secondary phones, especially if these phones are small in size (less than 4.5 inch display) which is something rare these days.

While I'm fortunate to be running Oreo, I would gladly take Kit Kat over the latest iOS.

After oreo is released for more than 2 months, google should not allow OEMs to launch phones without android oreo

Spike1, 14 Nov 2017I cabt imagine till now why Google isnt interested in findi... moreThe android version release this year is actually meant to gives time to developer to implement it on their phone next year. We can see new version always being released around August to October. This give times for early January/February flagship to get the latest android version. Even the Oreo on some smartphone this year are not fully optimized and some are even merely beta version of Oreo.

If new android version were to be release on January every year it would make things worst. There is not enough time to implement it before new flagship launch on Feb/March. Apple is able to cope up with their ios release and new iphone release because they always have the same date for everything Apple. Android comes in many different brands with many different launch dates. Not all phone can get the latest android version due to this. To answer your question in short, no, Google cannot find a way to make new android version available at the same time to all manufacturers.

I cabt imagine till now why Google isnt interested in finding a way to mandate its newest Androids on phones like Apple! They need to make all manufacturers make it available at the same time Google launchs it

Imperator Neubaticus, 14 Nov 2017It's funny how kids are so proud of their oreo-touting sony... moreLOL because sony's oreo looks similar to its lolipop.
most people choose pixel (and many other brands) for stock android interface.
most other people choose samsung (and many other brands) for custom 3rd parties android interface.
sony's user interface is not stock, but it looks old and ugly with very limited features.

I wish if manufacturers were quick in pushing updates to devices. But then wishes are not horses.

It's funny how kids are so proud of their oreo-touting sony phones when sony isn't even a top 10 smartphone vendor anymore. It's like a club of misfits that nobody but club members care about. Gives me the chuckles.

                      20,6% still running android 7.0/7.1

I think we need a third big OS, ios and android are both deeply flawed and outdated.

Complete fail compared to ios ..... the fact that android is used by many differrent SOC and still uses same update system is complete fail ....best thing about pcs compared to phones is choosing the operating system freely ... I dnt see areason why it cant be the same in phones ....google makes android and phone makers build drivers ( like camera app ,screen, audio ,network or whatever ) ...
