Do you like the cloth daydream "device" that has no electronics in it, or the cloth oculus go with a 2 year old chip in it, better than a latest generation device just because it's blue?
I am sure they'll give color options though when this hits the market. That's like the easiest part of the manufacturing, though it seems for many it is the most important.

Both Huawei's Kirin and Apple's A11 is better (Apple's offering far so). It can only win over cheapo chinese SoC (Mediatek's).

If they truly want a mobile VR experience they have to create a SoC of their own, Qualcomm SoCs are a liability, it would keep them into pre-historic times. Qualcomm is known to move at snail's pace (and they only sell because of modem's monopoly, if not for that they would be dead in the water). Quite an unskilled company.

What would you expect them to put inside? Core i5 and GTX 1060?

Apparently it has no need of fun either , 'cause Snapdragon 835 is one of the weakest SoCs for its time (by comparison SD 800 was a behemoth for its time)...

Okay, but is that the best design they could come up with? And seriously, what an atrocious colour selection? Who would want to wear that silly, kiddish looking thing?

Looks like a cheap plastic VR headset from some shady Chinese manufacturer.
